Okay I think I've decided on the following 'solution' for the meantime. I've created a rack in Live that does the following:

1. Pan signal hard left
2. Run it through Echoboy, etc.
3. Take only the left channel upon output
4. Pan that to the center
5. Reduce gain by 3dB

Basically I'll have to use those plugs in mono, but at least with Ableton its rack system is perfect for his kind of thing. (Just save copies of the above rack, one for each plugin, and drag that into your projects like any other vst.)

I just experienced a noise burst with Soundtoys in Reaper. I had it in cycle mode but I wasn't even in playback mode. The noise burst happened right when I deleted the plug out of my FX chain. My ears are still ringing.

I normally use Logic and haven't had the issue before.

I hope they figure out a fix soon. In the meantime I'm going to figure how to set up the muting automation so my ears aren't damaged any further.

same problem here. live 8.1.4, soundtoys native 4.0.2, 44.1 khz, 512 samples. always happens at the start of cycling or when i put the cursor somewhere in the middle of my project while playing. has been happening since version 3.

the bursts in themselves are very short (just 1 or 2 samples), but extremely loud (+26 dbfs). especially when this signal is routed through other plugins, the noise can be terrifying. i pull the mixer volume way down while looping because of this... any other plugs would go straight into the bin, but soundtoys have buckets full of credit with me, so i really hope they fix this soon.

i think what would also work is just take the left output, because the burst always seems to happen in the right channel.

... and the bursts primarily seem to happen with crystalizer and echo boy. in other words, the idea that this has something to do with buffers is not so strange.

Seems that it bug needs more time to be fixed than we expect. Very annoying.

pointing soundtoys to possible causes will only speed that up, don't you think?

This bug here has been going about 6 Months now and makes the plugins pretty unusable as VSTs

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/f13/s...ac-477117.html

I'm just saying, don't hold your breath for a fix, no matter how minor it seems.
I bet we see the release of the juice plugin before we see a fix.

I was using Live the other night, had a whole bunch of plug-ins instantiated (including echo boy), and I got a huge blast of white noise through headphones. *ouch* that's the worst white noise blast I've gotten, and since I'm a Logic user I consider myself experienced with white noise blasts.

Dunno which plug-in was responsible, but it scared the crap out of me.

Its this very issue that has kept me from buying Sound Toys for my Nuendo 5 rig.

Sound Toys fix this already!

I've found work arounds and am using other plugs to cover what my Sound Toys needs were, but I'd still like them on this rig.... but not until this is fixed.

I just experinced this deafening some of you talk about. Recording with headphones in Reaper the other night, EchoBoy almost blew my ears off.
Now I found the mute master channel function, so next time I'll be prepared.

After reading your suggestions, I experimented with the buffer settings. The noise burst happens at 44100 KHz, but when I change it to 48000, the noise goes away. Am I just lucky?

Running EchoBoy in Studio One works like a charm. So that's where I'll be spending my time for recording vocals in the near future.

I don't think you're referring to the plugin buffer settings here, sounds more like the internal audio sample rate. I much prefer working at 44.1 so I don't have to worry about so many conversions throughout the process, but if working at 48 solves this problem then it may be worth it to me to use it instead. I can't really confirm whether this is the case with Live8 at the moment, as my comp got shot by stike and I'm waiting for a new one , but I'll see when I get the chance (as it's something I've never tried), and if anyone else wants to try it out on their rig in the meantime that would be great.

Same issue here with Decapitator on Reaper/PC. It only happens when I automate the bypass on Decapitator; random bursts of LOUD noise. Luckily, I always have Reaper set to clip at -3 for just such an occasion. A fix would be nice...

this is a shame. i've read so many great things about these plug ins and was thinking about grabbing them but i'm giving pause to that idea now. I'm not going to shell out money to buy something that is essentially BROKEN.

have they responded in any way to this problem? It seems like something they should be handling with utmost urgency.

any news? starting to get a little bummed.

sound toys has been A+ for support and responding quickly but they seem to have departed from that practice

I really want to buy this plug now, but after reading up on the glitches and stuff it has with live, it's a huge turn off.

I got an enormous blast of noise from EchoBoy under Ableton Live again last night when jumping the playhead around. This problem is so frequent and so severe that I'm going to have to stop using these plug-ins in order to protect my expensive monitors, headphones and above all my ears and the ears of the other people in my studio. I sure wish that SoundToys would get on this.

I have recently stopped using my 2 Stoys plugs, echoboy and Decap, due to the noise bursts...

Each noise blast is enough to ruin the rest of my day!

Not worth it!

someone from soundtoys posted in the "juice" thread that they are beta testing the update to the native bundle.. or something like that. apparently they've been working hard on getting it sorted out. must have been a tough thing to chase down

still a big bummer though.

using "fixed sized buffers" in FL helped the plugs to be usable for me.

However, the automation still feels a little buggy. The parameters dont move when they are automated, but its still automated and I can hear the effect.

I was close to dropping cash for the Native Bundle. This is all very disappointing and not even one heads up from Soundtoys. Not good enough.
