Mix Engineers for Hire????

Hey there, my band has just started recording our album and I was just wonder'n what was out there in terms of free lance mix engineers that work in larger console based mix/recording studios, even smaller pt HD based studios.
We are an instrumental progressive rock band based in New Zealand. Line up is Drums, Bass, Gatsx2 and Synth. Our "sound" could be described as a cross between The Mars Volta and Tool, with a bit of King Crimson.... Quite busy stuff, very rythmic and melodic. We are recording 5 songs, each song is about 6 min long.
We are a ways off mixing yet but thought I might put my feelers out and see what comes back.
Budget at the moment is reasonably tight, we're doin it ourselves, but are willing to pay for quality.
I don't much more info at this early stage.

If you are interested maybe you could just post a link to a website or a link to work you have done, or PM me.

Thanks in advance.

Michael Wagener does mix work for hire, and he's mixed some of the baddest ass albums of all time inlcuding Ozzy and Metallica.

Hey Martian, I'd be up for it.
I don't mix on a large console or even have HD, I'm still on a Mix cubed system but I just did a radio mix for a New Zealand band (waiting on mix approval and cutting it fine for pressing time so I can't say who just yet but it's the band that springs to mind when you say "Rock" and "New Zealand" in the same sentance)
PM me if you're interested

I could probably fit the bill. I have mixed about a dozen records for King Crimson and have also worked with lots of other prog guys like Tony Levin, Steve Morse, The California Guitar Trio, Terry Bozzio... I never worked with Tool, but worked with some of the guys from Tool on a different project. I own a commercial studio in LA with a pretty big board.

You can learn a bit more about me here. http://www.venetowest.com/

Word.

It is always fun to watch these threads...
May as well have asked..."anybody interested in ****ing my beautiful virgin daughter"...

This cat should be able to get a sample from a bunch of quality folks and choose the best fit...
Not a bad route to go actually...

Thanks for the PM Fletcher

Been getting alot of interest so thanks to everyone that has posted and PMed me.
I'll send any potential mixers MP3's of monitor mixes (when we have them) to see if it's the type of thing you can get into.

Hey Prickstein who was the NZ band you worked with?

Cheers

if I understood correct then you're kind of ironic about this thread. why? haven't you guys got laid for a while?

I have been reading this forum ever since I discovered it. I don't write often, though. But this thread made me respond.

First! I got (over the GS forum) for one of my projects great and respected mix engineer (Tobias Lindell @ Bohussound). I flew over to Sweden we mixed the stuff and it was one of the most aired song during this summer in my country. Thanks to GS.

Second! I found really good mastering guy Brian Lucey - he just mastered an album for me and it sounds excellent. Again, thanks to GS

This guy might be serious of getting some good contacts. If you got nothing else to say except for some ironic jokes then save everybody's time and get more clients, get a wife or just dfegad

no feelings hurt

My goodness young lad...relax.

My post was niether ironic nor disrespectful...it was in jest... The face of comedy is often in the form of sarcasm...

Unlike you, I do post here regularly...and I do know the quality of people responding to this thread.
I have no clue where you are reading into this but based on your post it is bent far beyond the reality of the situation...

There is humor in everything...obvciously lost on you (I can't be responsible for your sense of humor or any sensitiviity you may have to it) but I suspect no one else felt 'attacked' by the remarks of Fletcher or myself.

And for the record...I absolutely love Lindells work (also Ronan Chris and Jay 'moose' Kahrs and I am a recent client of Brian Lucey...

This drama is yours to keep or chuck bro...but it's not mine.
No harm intended...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:

Oh Geez... following your posts I see you pulled this same attitude when you were looking yourself in June...

Here is some friendly genuine advice...

It would be in your best interest to learn the rules of the game before you accuse others of cheating... Fair enough?

Peace.

call me crazy... the idea of climbing on top of a girl who is full of fear, who has no experience as an independent adult in the world, and who would be wincing with pain at every thrust, somehow this lacks appeal to me.

on the other hand, give me a woman with a few lines around her eyes, who knows how to give and receive pleasure, is comfortable in her skin, and expects that it'll take us an hour just to get warmed up for an evening of exploring every inch of each other's bodies... now you have my attention.

The majority of work I've done is in electronic and industrial. If you've heard anything from DJ Magic Mike in the last 3 years... then you've heard me.... My own personal project...

I teach music production at Full Sail and have my own company... XOverAudio.com

I'd be happy to send you a demo CD and a bio... Do you have a link to any track demos?

cheers...
