80's Pop Drum Samples

Just wondering were I could find some samples that have the same sound as the 80's Pop stuff, ala Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, INXS, Madonna, Phil Collins, etc. I'm mostly interested in the dancy type of stuff.

Go to AKAI Pro's homepage (under the MPC-section), and you'll find samples of various drum machines from the 80's. You can use CDXtract or Chickensys Translator to convert these to your sampler.
Echochamber also has some 80's drum machine sample sets for EXS24.
Hollowsun used to host some very good samples, but they've gone commercial these days... dfegad

Good luck!

Only much of what you want were real drums, not samples. The majority of big 'sample-ish' sounding drums from the 80's were just production techniques. Not machines...

Respect,

Definitely.... Although the Linn9000, and the Wendel Jr both had sounds we'd associate with the 80's.....
A bit (actually a lot) of gated verb on a very compressed snare is always a good start.
I heard a multitrack of Phil Collins (on the Feed The World single) the other day, and it could have been recorded yesterday.... But the production on the record dates it to mid 80's..... it's all in the compression and verb....
Don't have the snare too bright, or the kick too big, or the hats too chunky and you're on your way!

Phil Collins was a lot of TR-808 with lots of gated reverb.

SSL has a free plugin AU for Macs that's the "Phil Collins drum compressor sound" that you may want to download as well. As said, it's free.
