Thread Starter | tube preamps with digital recording = magic? I heard some audio guys talking about tube preamps (good ones, not the low end stuff) is a match made in heaven with digital recording. A certain "presence" and warmth is imparted on the digital track which is captured very well with great converters. I don't know - I have a Chandler TG2, and while it may "shimmer" it certainly has warmth and fullness, and I like it a lot. Haven't really used a high end tube pre - I have used the cheap stuff and they are tubby and flubby, so..... And some here will say tube gear is overrated... The more you read this stuff, the more you realize with high end gear, it's all good, just different. And it won't make up for bad mic placement and lousy mixes.... ![]() |
