Thread Starter | Periodic Hum in Event Studio Precision 6 Monitor
Hey, I am getting this periodic hum coming through my Event SP6 Monitors. By periodic I mean, it comes and goes, but it's there more times than not. I have them plugged directly into a Profire 2626, but the hum is there even if they are not plugged into the interface. They are powered on a furman conditioner. Anyone have any thoughts? If the monitor is humming even if there's no input, you've pretty much isolated the problem to that monitor, of course. In general, a hum that comes and goes is typically related either to a frequently jostled connection or short or one that is affected by changes to the physical circuit/hardware by heat (for instance, maybe the circuit board expands with the heat, possibly breaking a ground connection in one part of a circuit, meaning power that should have gone to ground at that point is then forced to travel through a circuit where it 'has not business' being -- and that contaminates the audio signal).

Thanks. Seems like my only option is to send it back to Event for fixing, but as long as it gets fixed, that's fine |
