Prepare for a slight boost (~1dB) at about 400Hz on every emulation.

Forget the PYE 84, especially for a kick drum. It shows an lower cutoff frequency at about 150Hz, which is equal to a lowcutat 150Hz. I don't know many instruments that need to be cut so high.

Watch your headroom. I compared the UAD to the liquidmix.
One main difference is, that the UAD shows much less distortion on
compareable emulations (1176LN, LA2A). That means: Don't drive the
liquid mix to hot, except you want much distortion.

For more unpleasent details (especially regarding the EQs) about the liquid mix look at my small measurement-paper: LiquidMixBugs.pdf ... at uploaded.to - Free File Hosting, Free Image Hosting, Free Music Hosting, Free Video Hosting, ...

Yeah, thanks JayT.

I'm also a LM-owner and there are really some unpredictable behaviour from the LM at times! The Pye (meat pie) compressor is really strange (as you notice too). It would be nice to hear someone with experience from the real thing give their view on the extreme lowcut! having said that, this one is sometimes perfect for me for backing vocals and shakers. I just insert it and without twisting anything it sounds...well...very different and sometimes very cool!

BTW, My favourite emulations are:

EQs: zebra 2 and 3, silver 2 and 3, the shelves from Class A 4

Comps: Big green, London and Mixbuss

Your frequency plots are really interesting. I don't bother too much with asymmetrical curves, but showed Hipass filters are really really strange!

Hope that Focusrite could give you a little feedback.

Thank you for your time JayT.
