Good Place to Find Older Recordings? I lost quite a few albums in a theft and was looking to replace some of them. Some of the albums I'm looking for our: Cozy Powell, Over the Top the British Promo Version with Gary Moore on guitar. Fleetwood Mac -Live at the BBC recordings Peter Winston and the Subway- Blind Race Jo Jo Gunne -any of their albums I'm still kinda new at the internet thing and was wondering what anyone knows about ordering online and if these places are honest and reliable. I'm a bit skeptical about giving my credit card. I've tried a few sites for the Fleetwood Mac stuff but when I go to order it says, "This item is no longer available" Some of the other sites I've tried keep taking me to other sites and more sites and then I have to quit the browser to get out. Any help will be appreciated

Thanks for reminding me about Cozy Powell. I just got his greatest hits from Amazon.co.uk. You can't go wrong with Amazon in my opinion. Oh, and of course also Amazon.com. Sometimes it's easier to hear clips on the US site as they seem to have more tracks sampled. Good luck in your search!

I dunno where you are geographically, but I find more LP's than I can physically carry for under a buck each. There's a place called Half Price Books that buys records; I've found lots of good stuff in their .93 cent bin, including almost the entire libraries of Elton John, David Bowie and Simon and Garfunkel. I've built a record collection over the past three years or so almost completely from used record stores. If I had been buying CD's it would have cost a fortune. I do find that hard rock stuff is difficult to find in decent condition. The mellower the music, the better the condition, usually. If you've got a local hifi store that sells turntables, ask them where the used record stores are. I see 'Kiln House' era Mac quite often.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm going to try all the suggestions. Has anyone come across a Cozy Powell album titled, "over the top"? It's one of the finest albums in my opinion. I'm still having a hard time tracking down Peter Winston too. I'm in Southern California if that helps. Thanks again.

I got the Fleetwood BBC thing. I got it when the BBC was dumping out loads of their vinyl. A lot of classics went to the bin, though I managed to rescue a few. They had the Subway record as well, but it was stolen in the late 90s/early 2000s or so as were loads of other of their classics... I know it was there, cause I saw it. But then it wasn't any longer. PM me about the Mac. 6x2

That gives me an idea...you should try calling some radio stations in the area. If you're in Southern California, there should be a ton of local radio stations. Radio stations change formats every so often, but, of course, the building and the equipment don't change. When the new crew moves in they usually just box up the disks from the old station and store them somewhere until they're either sold off or forgotten. If you call the right person they might be willing to let you come down and look around and make an offer for whatever you find of interest. That Peter Winston stuff is pretty hard to find, stateside, though. I have a friend in France that sent me a 45 of "Swan" (which Winston wrote and recorded the week after Adrian Davies died on stage -- the song is about the event) and it's absolutely awesome. I've never seen it over here though. If you'd like, I could email my friend and see if he knows a source over there that you could check out. ~S
