There is only ONE motive I can see going on which explains any possible Logic behind what happened to you here. If you think about who could possibly gain in this scenario you will find where the motive may be. The person making the deposits will not gain because even if they were doing it to play a currency stock market fluctuation, they would not gain there. They may for some strange reason, want to have money come back to them in a different currency but it doesn't seem useful to do it in this way for any useful purpose. so lets assume, they have nothing to gain. in fact lets assume you could show that they would effectively lose. the only other party who could benefit would be paypal, because you have been charged for a currency conversion transaction. the other clue is the frequency of the transaction. e.g. on what basis can you pay someone and then retract it in paypal ? it is not possible to initiate a retraction on something you paid to someone on paypal inside 30 minutes as far as I am aware. you have to lodge a claim on some valid basis with paypal. your paypal account may be being used for money laundering. an obvious and known beneficiary are paypal themselves. you should let them know that 1: if this is not sorted out to your satisfaction, you will send a dossier to the Fraud office explaining your findings and the, 2: to make sure that this NEVER happens again. also tell paypal that if this is not sorted out you may also inform the security services that paypal may be being used by international terrorists for laundering money. This should make them think a little bit more about it all. paypal are notorious for NEVER reporting Fraud. amishsixstringe . please don't give up on this if you can. other posters here may say not to worry about it but to be honest we had all better worry about it. I understand they don't want you wasting time or feeling bad about it, but if we keep giving up we will learn nothing and apart from anything we need to know what is up with this. as for paypal transactions I will post something here explaining some of the criteria next. please let people know about these criteria if you can. It can benefit us all. P.S. All The Secret Paypal/Ebay Email Addresses And Phone Numbers You Could Ever Want All The Secret Paypal/Ebay Email Addresses And Phone Numbers You Could Ever Want - The Consumerist P.P.S. The reason that paypal prefer getting to your bank account is that, they know you can't get your credit card to reverse the transaction. you have to understand that these people do this all day long. they know the systems inside out. Anatomy of a Paypal Transaction. U.K. contains applicable info for all countries. I am putting this up here as a possible transaction reference for using paypal. there is no point in listing anything on ebay if you have set up a deal on a Forum. it achieves nothing except more expense. Do NOT ship to un-varified addresses. this also means, do NOT ship to an address that the buyer wants because they happen to be living there now, or it is their studio or ANY reason whatsoever. Why ? because you have just shipped to an address which paypal will NOT cover you for if the thing goes missing in any way. you NEED to get full postal insurance.. you NEED to get a signature and Tracking. Why ? because paypal will NOT protect you if you don't have this for items. Paypal: The Automatic seller protection figure is only up to a small amount.. in the UK it is £500. anything between £149.99 and £499.99 needs Tracking and signature. anything below £150. e.g. £149.99 and below needs some kind of tracking. if this is posted to place inside your own country registered post may be adequate but if it is outside your country you NEED tracking. Tracking does NOT prove delivery btw. ONLY a signature proves delivery. getting a signature is not always easy because certain carriers (hand over) the transit of the item to (other) carriers. they have no mechanism to get that signature back because they have no infrastructure to do so in many cases. so it is (clearly) misleading because it is NOT Automatic at ALL. IF you guys are selling items over the value for Automatic seller protections. you NEED to find out what UN-AUTOMATIC or NON-AUTOMATIC means... you need to communicate with the buyer and give them your phone number just in case. if you have not postal insured your item you frankly must be CRAZY!!! IF you have postal insured it with signature and tracking and there is no signature then, whatever paypal do you can get your money back via the postal insurance. paypal will NOT do any of this work for you.. they won't even contact the postal company. they will ask YOU to get that signature from the postal company, or provide a letter off proof from the postal company which states that the postal company are unable to obtain it. they will also ask for proof that you purchased the signature service.. it all depends on the specific postal service you used and if they have any online system paypal can access to get the information. if you send an item to an international buyer from the UK as an example, and the Item was valued at £150 you had better get tracking and a signature. you are only protected (up to) £150 with (tracking internationally) or registered post inside the UK borders. IF the paypal transaction was to the value of £149.99 you are ok for international tracking ONLY in that case. I sent an Item internationally to the USA from the UK which incurred a paypal transaction value of £150. I paid to the postal service Royal Mail. 1: International Airmail small packet. £1.93 2: signed for international (which I believe included tracking) but ONLY to the point it was passed over to the USA postal system. BUT this is proven to have gone into the system. which is the important thing. £5.90 3: Advice of Delivery.. £0.40 UK sellers take note: international sellers, this is also of relevance. there will be an equivalent in your country. Note: with the (international signed for) you do NOT get a signature verification sent to you .. it is meant merely to make sure that the name of the person on the packet is the person the postal person GIVES IT TO. you get NOTHING. It is only meant to help remind the postal service delivery person to double check that recipients identity. you have NO proof this even happened. This is NOT a way to get a proof of signature. Advice of Delivery IS designed so that you DO get a signature.. but it will only be sent to you if you request it at the time you have the need for it. e.g. the purchaser reverses the transaction with paypal, claiming nothing was delivered. most postal workers have little idea what they are doing in many cases. The post office will have little to no experience or knowledge of what (Advice of Delivery) even is. They hardly ever use it. but it does exist. If you have trouble with the postal companies, expect it to take 6 weeks or so. These are ball park references for anyone inside the UK. but they should have equivalents and you certainly need those equivalents in order to fulfill the criteria on which paypal operate. There are still some unknowns here, especially as to what paypal consider to fall outside Automatic protection for sellers. Hope this Helps people play better. Best Muser |
