| Gear Head | stage boxes other than Canare first off, i did a search, but didnt really get to see what you all are personally using. i am wiring our new studio, and so far have got 2 adc 96 point TT bays, mogami patch cables, neutrik xlr's, and gepco single and multi pair all for the control room interconnect. i need a 24x4 ~100ft snake/stage box to go from the tracking room to the control room. i cant afford a canare right now, but that is what i would ultimately want to go with. whirlwind has something in my price range, or maybe a little step up to proco? or go with a no name brand off ebay? i will be punching down pigtails with xlr's on them off the patchbayand then connect the snake to that, so i will be able to replace this part of the signal chain(the stage box) down the line if i want to. what do you guys use? No, but I'm pretty they make a snake. A snake and a stage box aren't the same thing. I wasn't aware that anyone other than Whirlwind made proprietary cable along with boxes as a turnkey system (their cable isn't great, but not bad either, but I wouldn't use it for pro recording). Your Gepco snake can be put into a stage box made to any configuration (there are many companies who do this including ourselves).

| Gear Head | you're right, i shouldnt use that term so loosely. i meant stage box. i have been searching for a couple of weeks and sometimes typing in "snake" gets me to stage boxes. so yeah, now that thats cleared up, what are you guys using in your studio? should i get a wall plate and make my own box here? i am looking to get as much quality as possible without going the full on canare route. |
