if it is at the same place as on a G+ then it's on the rear cross-beam of the console; get underneath the console from the front side, take a flashlight and a couple of sandwiches, and start scanning the metal beam on the rear side of the console. It may be engraved somewhere underneath the center section.

OR: if you have the service manuals that came with your SSL, you'll find it there as well.

The manual it´s like big books with schematics and everything. I´m sure you can ask for a copy at SSL.

What manuals are you referring to? I suppose you have both operational manuals: the console manual & the computer manual.
As for service manuals: in the ideal world they should have come with your console. In an even more ideal world, manuals and console should still be snug and close together, even after the console has served under multiple masters.
And if you ever find the gates to Utopia, you'll even know how to read and interpret the service manuals.
No seriously, they are very valuablue and essential to good maintenance of your console. But you should try to find the ones that match your console: no SL4048 is created equal and this will be reflected in the service manuals as well. Generally there are a console service manual, a computer service manual, an Ultimation service manual ( if you have Ult.) and a general specifications manual.

All The Best,

On the earlier consoles the console serial number was on a label that was mounted on one end or the other of the console. The Side trim was then bolted on top of the end piece. So often you had to remove the side trim (probably the patch bay end) and you will find the serial number.

Once you have the serial number it may be possible to get the original specification from SSL but you will have to pay for it as it will take someone digging through old records to find it particularly on older consoles.

Service manuals can be bought from SSL as well but you may have to settle on a G series manual but a lot of the information is still relevant.

Good Luck

You can purchase both manuals (computer and board) from SSL. Go to their website, call the local number to you and order it. It is easy.
