Yep, they have five different beers on tap in the restaurant inside AR. Worth saving.

Jules, I love the bare feet on the crossing

And here's a few more pics as well- the Chandler units on their side are in the extra outboard storage room... just waiting for someone to book them for a session.

Needless to say, there's more killer outboard in that storage room than in many serious studios.

Narcoman did a fantastic job on the mixing as well and was there supervising the recording. We recorded over 2 days with strings on the first, and brass and choir on the 2nd.

Also my first time recording with a cimbasso player...everybody should have one

So yeah, it would be very sad to see this fantastic recording space be sold off...as I want to record there again!
haha..I was going to play "out the gearslut" in picture 2 above and then upon re-reading your post, noticed you already had!

Rehearsing for a Glen Campbell show with the BBC Orchestra. I was playing pedal steel and banjo. Amazing vibe at Abbey Road!

Studio 2 Room sound clip!!!

Here is a quick sample of the room sound at Studio 2. That's my deepest, most soulful brother, Scott Bricklin playing my 1970 Champagne Sparkle Ludwig kit. The rooms are a pair of Coles 4038, that if you look at the pictures I've posted earlier, you can see them about 10 feet in front of the kit. If you listen to this clip you'll hear the compression get a little drastic near the end....that's me playing with the FAIRCHILD!! It was fun, if only for a moment. Enjoy!!

Okay one last batch... I'll try to snap a few more when I'm in tracking next week as well.

This upcoming session really has a different feel now considering everything...

the music in KZ2 was one of 2009's best soundtracks in a videogame.

This thread is amazing! Many thanks to everyoen that posted photos. I had to create a folder on my computer and download them all for future enjoyment.

thumbsupthumbsup

And i agree that if we lose Abbey Road, we aren't just losing another recording studio, or even an acknowledged classic recording studio. We are losing a piece of recording history itself, and that is quite a shame!

I just found some video footage I have of Lester the tech at Abbey Road showing one of the first ribbon mics ever made from the 30's. It's gorgeous... apparently there are only 35 of them ever made and they have 8 of them. An EMI ribbon mic. Looks like a TANK!

Lester is a genius. I was in all day yesterday tracking for a big charity record for Haiti and the two U47's we were using for solos/small group vocals sounded incredible... both maintained by Lester of course

If I can ever get out of the airport and back home, I promise I'll post some more pictures. We were in Studio 1 and it was a huge session... so big that we had to use Studio 2 as the cloakroom. How bizarre is that?

As ever, the Abbey Road staff were incredible, and Studio 1 truly sounds amazing... I honestly never get tired of that place.
