| Lives for gear | I've made some nice records with the beta57 back in the day, but I pretty much always turn to my "modded" 57 now days.. If I go with a bottom mic it usually is a 441 or 414. ERic

the beta 57 can work on snare. I don't think it's too far off from the i5 they are both pretty dry and punchy sounding. I also like the TAB transformer 57, fake chinese 57 (bright and ringo-ey), KSM141 (more realistic whole drum sound than a dynamic), and EV RE18 and N/D468. I intend to try out my AT4051a next time I get the chance, and would like to purchase an M201 based on the feedback here
