That said, I have no problem with them in the general area, but no kids. Pets you can at least train... and have put down if need be (not that I ever would)

My english staffy "billy". King of the neighborhood. Great dog for my lifestyle. More of a pack dog than a working dog. Pretty much happy as long as people are around and I am always around. |

My dog is a Lhasa Apso. The breed comes from Tibet, where they were bred for two thousand years by monks and nobles before spreading to other parts of the world. Lhasa's were used as guards of temples and homes, and still possess those kinds of traits today. My dog "Woody" is an incredible watchdog and is always very aware of what goes on inside and outside the house, within the perimeter of the property. He's got a ferocious bark that sounds like he's a lot bigger than he really is! But he's also a tough little guy who would go down fighting to protect us if it came to that. Lhasa's were considered very precious and spiritual in Tibet. An interesting legend is that when the owner died his spirit was thought to enter his Lhasa and live on in there. The dog couldn't be bought because of their rarity and were given as very special gifts. Indeed, another legend is that the Lhasa is to find you, you are not supposed to buy them. Which is exactly how this dog came to me, I didn't buy him. He belonged to my neighbor at the time, and they were having problems with him. So my neighbor asked me if I would take him, which I did. He's been wonderful for us, a regular member of the family. Through the various machinations of life, this dog did indeed find us.

| GREAT THREAD/heavy heart
It is with heavy heart that I join in. I have 4 cats and two dogs. Carl, the culprit, has occasionally chewed through a dangling cable and he has scratched up my nice Italian red leather studio couch. This annoyed me but.... hay. I learned a few days ago that Carl has a lethal virus and his time for this world is short. He appears to be in no pain (purrs alot) but is winding down. Carl favors my 9 year old son who is heart broken. If I could bargain with God I would ask for many destroyed couches, cables, & snakes if I could just keep Carl for a longer period of time. ...... Stumbling on this thread has brought me face to face with the reality that I have been too busy to think about... amazing how things work. Damn....I am taking the rest of the day off. I've got the blues. Best holiday season for you all. I am looking forward to posting some pics of my studio animals.

| 'Devo' He can sit, shake and high five (I trained my previous cat 'Ziggy' to do the same). Also likes car rides (walks on a harness) and likes to play with dogs. He's single and is looking for like minded and capable mate that loves moon lit walks atop fences and roofs... Meow. .

Hey, Fleaman, you think Devo will actually pay that bill? My dogs don't help out with that stuff at all.

I also have the fortunate luck that Devo hardly sheds at all (Compared to just about every other cat in the world that is). I think I shed more than he does, at least in the shower. Strangely my previous cat also didn't shed that much. Supposedly cats shed more when exposed to more light...I read that somewhere and since my place is rather dark most of the time, it could explain the low shed count. I try to keep dust out of my equip as much as possible, so I think it does double duty for any errant cat hairs too.

I don't have nor want kids and it costs me about $8 a month to feed Devo. Devo is my child and the savings over the human version of him pays for lots and lots and LOTS of sluty gear And the gas bill.
