Thread Starter | Tube traps work after all...
Hi all, I am happy to report that I was able to get nice results recording in an overly live room by placing a couple of DIY tube traps strategically around the mic and sound source. I used 10" fiber glass tube insulation capped with particle board discs and covered with fuzzy animal print fabric (Jungle Traps). Looks nice, sounds better - I'm a happy camper. Used it on vox and grand piano so far with great success. Thought I'd share... Signing off, Oliver |

Andre, You can find detailed instructions here: http://www.teresaudio.com/haven/traps/traps.html I just replaced the sheet rock with particle board and made them look nice by covering them in pretty fabric. The traps are 10" diameter and 3 ft high. I use 12 of them in 6 stacks of 2 each. vox: 4 stacks behind the singer, 2 stacks close behind each side of the mic. piano: 6 stacks lined up around the open lid, mic 10" above the hammers at a 45deg angle facing down and back Details about the girl: http://www.laurengifford.com Cheers, Oliver |

My assistant an I were checkin' out the pic like "Dammmmmn, look at them tube traps", then both realized what studio dorks we are. The website(s) will come in handy later as I plan on building some myself if I ever get the time. Sometimes I think I should start really sucking my mixes up so people DON'T want to work with me.
