The drum example is first a raw tracking bounce followed by a drum mix stem with Overstayer on the buss. Notice how powerful and punchy the second half is.

The rock guitar is a quick before and after with dirt engaged. These guitar aren't very good but within the context of the mix they bloom nicely around the other instruments.

On the alternative rock snippet notice how loud the sidestick is w/o compression and once engaged notice how loud it still is but everything else in the mix fills out.

In the pop example I love how it shaves the peaks of the drums and has so much more apparent loudness without feeling too smashed.

On the hip hop joint, which was already grimey around the edges, it is magnified yet contained without power being taken away with the Overstayer.

All three 2 bus examples are all just before & after examples, they were not mixed with the OS, it was added after the fact as an example. (Sorry I can't post unreleased clients files that were mixed thru muliple Overstayers...but they really shine.)

Here the are various examples:
Thanks for these. Stunning improvements.
Are these examples using the mod or un-modded version?

Jeff ... Thanks for the info on time constants ... looks like an extremely verasatile and usefull tool - and the variable release gives a lot scope ...

Enginears - thanks for taking time to put up the samples ...

... much appreciated ... but it all makes keeping my credit card in my wallet VERY difficult ... !!!

Cheers ... Carter

As of tomorrow I should have shipped an Overstayer here, and it will be a Stayinovernighter here for a long, long time hopefully!

The channel amplifier is not a neve clone - I will make a seperate thread with the details on this shortly.

The hardware to rackmount 1 or 2 units will be available in the next few weeks, and pricing will be determined this next week.

Ok this thread has been stuck at 100 posts way too long, I'll take #101. So how do you guys like it that just picked one up? I've gone through and listened to those clips WAY too many times. When you level match the clips in here compared to other clips from much higher priced units you can start to see why this is such a good deal. I'm still saving my pennies for it. The clips from this comp are the only ones I've found yet that you can take the compressed signal and play it back much quieter than the original signal and it still sounds better. Thats quite a feat IMO. Another month or two and I'll have mine I think! As long as the price doesn't jump up before then.

I already have my power supply and started some "tests".
It really really is wonderful. I've used it for now most of the time in the drumgroup, it's amazing there.
I was looking for a stereo compressor for that purpose, and it's exactly what I was looking for.
You just use the drive and then you can really feel it with the attack how much you want ot "control".
I'm really really amazed with this.
Congratulations Jeff

I've used it a few times now- the basic model and it sounds/works great. I played with it on some lead vocals that I couldn't quite get right in the mix, but after fiddling with the knobs for awhile on this, they were perfect! They sound great on drums too. Haven't tried on guitars or bass yet-

I can't wait to get some bills paid off so I can get one of these!
Unfortunately, I'm using a digi 002r stock converters. I'll use it to track, regardless, but would also like to buss out through the comp during mixing but I'm worried I'll cause more bad than good with all the conversion.

You have good converters, and they will never be your "handicap",you will never doo bad with the overstayer(or any piece of gear that sound as good as this one) unless you use it "unproperly"

"Unproperly."

Now that's a new one.

Also impressed by the word "doo."

I just found out about the overstayer and I'm about to pull the trigger and buy one. I got two questions:

1) I was looking for a 1176 clone for "gain pumping" , can the OS do this type of pumping? I would think it could since its FET, but thought I'd ask.

2) I'm also looking to use the OS for parallel compression on the drum buss for aggressive EM, particuarly for a jomox xbase 999 analog drum machine. Are either of the two available mods, variable release mod and tracking compressor mod, something that would be helpful here?

Please excuse the newbie questions as this would be my first comp. Thanks.

Also for me, it's in the drumgroup since arrived.
I've put some bass and lead trough it and it sounds really good, but in the drums it's magical.
I'll post some electronic drums example as soon as I have some time left.
And yes, i'm still loving it(even more as I use it)

most of the drum examples have so far been parallel compression examples - but it would be great to hear some examples with a bit of standard slow attack faster release punchy/grabby transient shaping...if it can do that....

Ordered 2 of them to the EU. I will report once they arrive, which will be a while I guess.

One normal comp and one with the mod. Lets see how they compete with my other outboard.

What's the turnaround time on these?

How long is the introductory price good for?
