Glad you are making money and producing good tunage.

Okay.. then assuming double negatives = positive, then dont you think it makes sense for an engineer to a few software applications?

Thanks. Yes I cannot complain with the pay and not just for myself, but others too. I'm certainly proud of that, considering the economy etc.

CJ,

Hmmm... Here's my take... Even if 1/2 of the people on this site used Cubase, I don't think they'd want to come to your place and work with you... Homie... you're pretty much an A$$hole (or just culturally different)... There is nothing wrong with your Pop tune... it's your Tone... the tone of your responses when people don't agree with you.... Fix yourself...

Your submitting 1 track a week... you live in Bubblegum land, and your still not getting placements... it's because of your attitude, your music's cool, for what it is... People obviously dont want to work with you for a reason, maybe you can't take constructive criticism and your too damn defensive... But your doing a genre where people will deal with anyone for 1/2 their publishing... and Rob you blind in the process.

You've quoted/posted links to all sorts of articles (that I'e read numerous time, at least the SOS one)... but these folks live by MEAP... they bounce stems and take them/delivery them where they have to go... You know, consolidated wave files...

As for the Stevie Wonder engineer... I'm sure he'd much rather mix records that don't depend on sidechaining and Autotune... so leave that dude alone.

You have several options... hire some ears and you play the Cubase Operator, and take direction... Keep at it... switch platforms... take it to another studio and make sure you get mix notes and recreate/study what the next man did... but dont blame PT or Cubase on your lack of placements... I don't see the Ableton users bitching...

Just so I don't sound so negative... I only use Steinberg products (C5/WL6)... I had a conversation with Bob Brockman, and he also stated that Nuendo sounded better than PT's (and I actually agree with the both of you)... I also see a lot of people tracking in Nuendo and Mixing in Cubase (either it's to keep the client at ease, or the audio is processed better, who knows)... Anyway, Bob now lives out in LA from what I understand... if this is still the case, you might contact him...

I just hope that you don't come across the same in person as you do online.... But last I knew, Bob was more than happy to Mix your Records, in your Studio... and from what I recall, his rates and guidance are worth eery penny spent.

Dueces...

Thanks for the advise. I am not blaming anyone here for my placements or lack of. All I know is I am giving work to others than I am getting from them. Good place to be in life. Touch wood. Bubblegum could be easy to spell but if all could write a damn fine pop song, they would. Since all want to do it, it's always a hit and miss. However, making a living alone doing this brings contentment.

My whole point of the thread was to find Cubase Engineers in LA. Since my last post, I have many. Alot have adopted. Whats interesting is currently there is a Survey on GS itself. Check it out.... if you already havent.

DAW Poll Who's using what in 2010?

Lesson learnt. Trust what I do (this applies for you if you trust what you do enough), be passionate about it and dont listen to fools who are lazy and one dimensional or those who are just plain stupid and cant adopt another daw or environment, especially if they intend on getting paid for it. As I always say, beggers can't be choosers. I know.. I was one.

wow.... I just cant get enough of this...haha..
those who were ripping into me about PT being the industry standard....

What DAWs do you use or own?

Cubase+Nuendo = nearly 37%
PT (LE/HD etc) = 32%

Wake up and smell the Roses you one dimentional oldschoolers!!! or better still, just get on with it and learn the newest and latest so you get more work.!!!!

Im so loving this, considering some tried to kick me. yup. Seriously!

Chris Carter's in LA and I'm pretty sure he's a cubase user. I use and love cubase as well. My very good friend moved from cubase to protools strictly for making mix projects easier cause he was getting mostly all of his files in protools format. He spent thousands of dollars getting this card
that interface and so forth. I actually like my converters better and have 24 channels for much less than 8 channels he has with protools. To each his own. Your using cubase and like it. KEEP ON USING IT. You will find someone to help you.
