Thread Starter | Looking for NYC studio/engineer for percussion recording project
My friend and I are trying to a create a library of Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican percussion loops and samples, but suitable for composers and producers in a variety of genres. My friend is a seasoned percussionist who's played and recorded with some of the best in Afro-Latin music (Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Eddie Palmieri, Oscar Hernandez, and Johnny Almendra). Since we hope to ultimately make the end product available for purchase, we're mainly looking for a place to make good quality recordings and an engineer with an interest in the project and a willingness to adjust to the peculiarities of sample library creation, or perhaps prior sample library/loop library work. We have what I think is a reasonable studio budget and are hoping to get some recommendations of studios/engineers in New York City (including Boroughs) for sessions to take place before the end of the year. Boston is also a possibility. We've put some thought into how to do this, but we could stand to do some more pre-production in consultation with the engineer. If you're interested or know somebody who might be interested, please let me know. |

John Hopkins at LoFish is a great engineer/producer. Smart, no crap and good input.
