@Igor, Thanx VERY much for the words about the transformer selection in the 2254C. This is excellent information by my watch, and I feel that the sound of this unit is stunning. I love transformers for what they can accomplish both in technical and musical aspects, and here with this stellar example of machinery, I hear the strikingly original detail you have attained. Job Well Done, indeed. Its Pretty spectacular actually. Adam = Happy.

The K-1 transfer chain is also being evaluated here at the studio, and man-o-man, what a FANTASTIC TOOL you have created!!!! To my ear, upon demonstrating the audio path, the unit is invisible, firstly. Secondly, the thought process of this design is genius. Due to the complexity of this product I will need more time with it, as far as being able to explain it's use, but so far, the grasp I have of it, seems to exceed any of my initial expectations - in actual use.

Its hard to explain in words just how good it really is, but put it this way. Generally, the Audio has a clarity, fullness, dimension, depth, and its possibly the "clearest" hybrid I have heard. There is NO SLUDGE in this box. No slow transient shaving, [in the audio path] no hindered tonality for what is passing through it. It definitely sounds "good" as one can define that meaning emotionally, and musically, but in general I think its response is mighty impressive for all sorts of reasons. The Gain reduction Action of the compressor has a lot of useful variance, and definitely does what you might expect that it would, perhaps, but it's really well suited for higher fidelity mastering, mixing and tracking, so far as I can tell. I feel this box has a very open response compared to the others I have used.

I for one am VERY excited about USING these AMAZING products WAY more here @ the Meth Lab! Job WELL DONE Tan Tan and Igor! You guys rule.
Thanks a lot Adam I'm SO glad you like it ! i had such a great time with you guys @ Mercenary, what a great place it is ! i could live there.. i hope to see you very soon with some more stuff !

I was making up some configurations in my head and I can't make up from the router if it's possible to have ins 1 directly followed by ins 2 ,then followed by feed A and then by feed B. Same for A-B-1-2... or do you simply have to press 2 buttons in the same rectangle to do that?
you can chain 1>2 >Feed A or B, you can't however chain 1>2>Feed A>Feed B,
if you want to use all the inserts you can chain:
Feed A/B>Ins1/2>Feed A/B>Ins1/2
or Ins1/2>Feed A/B>Ins1/2>Feed A/B
or Feed A/B>Ins1/2>Ins1/2>Feed A/B

It's not designed to press 2 buttons in the same rectangle, it's a choice between two in each..

@ Igor: welcome to Gearslutz !

Hi I'm looking at the K1.
Can you tell me how it differs from the Manley Backbone or Crookwood R3?

Thanks

ok cheers, I see now, that clears things up for me about the routing. Still a very powerfull tool for integrating parallel-and MS processing. Makes a lot of configurations possible.

When the router at initial (zero) condition, just press the button to light it up,
press it again - it goes down, i.e. it works like "flip-flop", or, if ins1 at second position, pressing ins1 at first position will just move it.
Pressing ins1 at 1st position again will turn it off, again-on....etc.
The routing is very simple, WYSIWYG.

To change the state from comp->eq->comp to eq->comp->comp
(for example) it is as simple as just store and recall...choose program and press button.
.thumbsup

IJ Research ROCKS

TanTan is a great friend, and Igor is a mad scientist. I'm the happy owner of both his UN-76 comp and the Control Room unit. I'm nuts about both- the reviews of the UN-76 are dead on: 1176 character, but with the Neve 1272 style output it's a lot more 'hi-fi' sounding than a true 1176. This thing just makes things sound bigger, which is not how I'd describe a vintage or reissue 1176

The control room module is invisible. Nothing much to say about it, because it doesn't have a character. You just turn the knob up and down and you get what's coming from your source, no more no less. The multiple input/output options as well as the trim to closely match audio sources for A/B-ing is extremely useful, but this unit's #1 feature is its transparency. That, and the cool 'clickity-clack' you hear as you turn up and down the volume (what is that, the resistors going in and out of the signal path??)

Mercenary Audio has a demo unit, you can give them a call and ask to demo it
