| Gear addict | Wireless remote control for monitors?
I was looking at monitor controllers and it seems none of them have wireless control. I'm thinking of using a 2.1 nearfield monitor system for my living room entertainment center, but since I'm not dealing with surround sound, I don't really need a fancy A/V receiver; however, without an A/V receiver, it seems I have no way to remote control the volume of the monitors? Those of you that use studio monitors for your entertainment center--do you all use A/V receivers to control the volume of the monitors?

I'm in the same boat, rejecting 5.1 sound until I grow 5.1 ears. My solution was to hook the monitors up through a dj mixer and control the volume wirelessly from the source (dvd player and/or media center with volume remote control) The reason I go via a mixer is to protect the monitors in case the source goes initially full volume. So the monitors are connected to the output of the DJ mixer, and the DVD player/TV are connected to the input of the DJ mixer, while the volume control is done using the remote controls for the DVD/TV?
