| Gear maniac | How to remove an ADAM tweeter? (S3-A)
I suspect the tweeter on one of my S3-A's may be damaged (sounds quite dull compared to the other one) and I'd like to first swap them between the 2 before ordering a new one, in order to confirm it's the tweeter and not the amp. However, I'm not sure how to remove the tweeter from the speaker: I've unscrewed the Philips screws in the 4 corners of the grill, yet it doesn't come out; do I have to undo the little hex screws, too or is it simply stuck, in which case: has it happened to any fellow slut? How did you take it out? I obviously don't wanna damage it, yet I can't afford the downtime to send the pair to the distributor right now (they're out of warranty anyway). Mr. Bryce? Klaus? ![]() Thanks in advance! |

Well... After taking those 4 screws off, trying to take the amp off and see if I can push the tweeter from behind (abandoned that idea before I took the amp off) and then gently hitting the tweeter's grille to see if I could get it to un-stick to no avail, I put the screws back on and posted this topic... Moments later I played some music through the speakers and the bloody tweeter plays like new!!! Go figure... |

I untied the screws and pushed the tweeter at its back with my fingers squezed through the bass reflex hole. |

Thanks for the reply, mate. Good to know in case I need it for the future, as now my tweeter seems to have come back to life. BTW, you must have very long fingers... I can't seem to reach that far back through the bass reflex holes... |

| Lives for gear | A good way to get a stuck tweeter out of an S3A is to pry it out with a small screwdriver using one of the four screw holes in the corners for leverage, not the grill or the sides of the tweeter. Hope that helps. dB

| Gear maniac | Thanks for replying. I already tried that, however, the only thing I managed to do was to scrape off a bit of paint off the metal plate where the screwdriver was touching it... :o(

You just pull the plastic tube, it is not glued or anything, so it shouldn't be a problem.
