Mix Master Class With Tony Platt (AC/DC, Bob Marley, Buddy Guy, etc.)

Hi All.
I'm putting together a Mix Class with Tony Platt, in San Francisco (and/or L.A.).
The more people I have the cheaper it will be.
I need to generate about $3000 to make it fly.
Tony's in England and I need to rent a big/nice studio.
So, depending on how many people, it'll be $150 to $350 for the day.
He's taught these classes in Europe for years and is a genius all around.
Thanks,
Astor.

Just curious but what did he mix by Bob Marley ?

I thought the guy that did most of their stuff died ? (though there was obviously more than one person involved.)

Those albums are my favorite examples of great mixing and arranging so I`m very interested in what he did.

Buddy Guy happens to be my biggest influence as a guitar player as well so I`m intrigued to say the least.

I found a couple other reggae acts he did that weren`t on that list as well.

Pretty cool.

Catch a Fire and Burnin were very pivotal albums for Reggae music in general and they were the albums that introduced them to America and the rest of the world.
Also the last 2 with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer in the band.

That alone is enough to base a class around for me but I guess he`d wanna talk about some other stuff too. (J/K)

AC/DC`s a fave of mine too.

If we can get the cost down low enough I`ll fly over and visit my Dad in the San Fran area and I`ll catch the class. thumbsup

It`d be very cool if we could get him to do a guest mod thing here as well.

I was with Tony in several studios in London during the time I lived there.
He's such a cool guy... he listens and speaks to everyone with the same respect, regardless of how high you are in your profession.
It's not surprising he got right to the top. Great attitude and wisdom.
Don't miss the oportunity of being with him...

Format for Tony Platt class

Can you all give me some feedback on what might be your preference, for the class.
I've been looking into doing it at SF Soundworks www.sfsoundworks.com
They have a J series SSL and incredible outboard gear.
I could get six hours for a half day price.
The thing is we could only have 8 people, so we'd each pay $350.
I could probably find a cheaper studio and cram more people in, but it might be a bit funky ( a decent neve, nice pre's, but not much outboard gear).
Otherwise, I could find a space, get twenty or more people and we could just ask questions and talk.
That could cut the cost to $150 or so.
Thanks much for your thoughts,
Astor.

I'm up for LA. I prefer a studio, I need to see hands on, as I'm not much good at just talking. And since it seems like you are leaning to SF, maybe you could arrange for two classes. Currently I count four of us for an LA class and I could probably bring a friend to make it 5.
