I need Help!!!

I am new to recording and mixing audio. I need help with understanding signal flow and routing. I have a Digi 003 system right now. I want to move to HD and I was hoping someone could recommend a book that I can go out and get that would explain I/O devices, AD/DA converters and how to route audio to outboard gear. Can anyone give me names of good books? I appreciate it!!! Thanks
