I know what you're saying and agree with you, but unless you work with A listers all the time, sometimes you have to do this kind of thing.

Not *lie* necessarily but keep the session moving.

Doing 80 takes of a guitar solo that the guitar player can't play doesn't do anybody any good, agreed?

Sure... you can politely suggest that perhaps they should simplify the riff but that doesn't always work.

What do you do when you have implied that the vocals are out of time and continue to be after 30 takes? Keeping at something for 3 hours on the clients dime makes you look bad and makes the group uncomfortable if not done tastefully and executed gently. I've even been around plenty of times where musicians start pointing fingers at each other over time spent and cause a very uncomfortable creative environment.

I guess my point is, that as an objective listener... perhaps you are in a position to be able to convince someone (who's goal is perfection) that their performance is a perfect representation of the best that they can do. What more can you ask for?

Thats our job isn't it? We are here to give the band the best product possible.

If that takes some creative psychiatry ... so be it.

Now you're outright lying.

No worries sunshine, I have plenty of fun over here. The thing is, your definition of fun is different than mine. By your own account, you have your fun at the expense of others, in a private internal game that no one else can see, no one else can share in.

Sounds like a ton of fun to me. Here's a thought: next time you have your fun, after you've duped your clients into thinking their first take was their latest and they express relief at having worked on it until it was right, try letting the performers in on the joke, let them share in the fun.

Let us know how that goes.

Works just fine, cause I always do tell them. What are they supposed to say when I tell them which is what?: "Now Im so mad that WE didn't like the original take, and WE chose to play on but ended up not succeeding, and after all the takes you switched around the tracks to see our reaction, but we ended up satisfied anyway"? How does that make them do any more work? If I had not pulled the joke, they would've gone with the original take anyway.

And yes, my definition of fun apparently is more different than yours. We rip on each other, they rip on us, and we have our fun. Let it go already? If you disapprove of my 'work culture/attitudes', which works just fine for both sides, then Im sorry, I cant help you.

Not to mention what a big thing you made out of this.

I agree with you, but you're talking about something completely different.

There's no need to apologize, as I don't need your help. Do you need my approval?

If so, you're up the creek without a paddle on this one.

Im going to respond to this like you do my replies:

"Lol, bro you are completely full of shit." - obviously you have no idea of what i am talking about, and youre now just trying to weasel yourself out of your dumbass outburst with shitty replies assuming whatever you feel like assuming, all while trying to be a smartass about it.

"There's no need to apologize, as I don't need your help. Do you need my approval? " - What the hell are you on about? You trying to be funny or something? You know perfectly well what I said.

"If so, you're up the creek without a paddle on this one." - ...

Reading over those last couple of posts, I'm trying to figure out what the hell my problem is. I have no good answer.

I apologize, not just for coming at you, but for doing it with such an arrogant tone.

I hope you bear me no grudge, and I hope you have a badass new year in any event. thumbsup
