I see that album was produced by the singer. Guess you are going to have to ask him, or find the engineer or tape op on that session. Good luck. | |

Yeah I hate to ask but.... you are joking about the "somewhere called Abbey Road" part right?

well, i read that they used abbey road to record but that they used the old 8-track machine. i think i read that in MOJO. how's that for a ringing endorsement! sorry i can't be any clearer but yes, that's an awesome sounding record. *the russian* has a great room sound to the whole song... -J |

That band is sooo awesome. They really don't have any week points. I think they succeed on every level. Great great songs. I'd like to know about the recording too. As well as the first one: Sunshine Hit Me. My girlfriend brought that and Calexico's Feast of Wire home a year or two ago when they came out. I had to admit that humans actually still have the potential for recording albums that sound every bit as good as anything from the sixties or seventies. |

I think it's the reverb coupled with the room that really gets me going about this album - they sit together pefectly. "I Love You" is just sublime, the distortion on the vocal (which i guess is from the compressor) when he opens up is magic. You're right, people can still make great records these days.....
