Need some direction in staring my new hobby!

Ok, so i'v been interested in electronic music for a while and recently found a used copy of Komplete 5, so I grabbed it. My set up right now consists of a macbook pro, komplete 5, garageband, and a 2 octave midi keyboard. Anyway...

I'v had some fun messing around with Massive and FM8, and iv put some little things together on a demo version of ableton live, but I guess Im wanting some guidance or tips as to how I can maximize my effectiveness for learning AND have fun at the same time. At this point my knowledge of sequencers and sound design is very basic. I know the basic subtractive synth formula and I know the idea behind sequencers, but not much else.

What do you guys think I should be focusing on? Beats, sound design, composition? I guess im just sort of overwhelmed at this point because the possibilities are endless, which is one of the exciting things about this stuff. Guitar is so much simpler! Is there book worth picking up or anything!

What instrument shall I choose? Piano? Guitar? Sax? (I hope you see my point...)

First of all you are on your way to become a musician (an amatuar one perhaps but still a musician).
IMO a musician should master at least ONE instrument. (An Akai MPC is not an instrument as far as Im conecerned, sorry.)

Production skills will be learned and fine tuned over time as you expiriment and gain expirience.
I would advice you to take music leasons, by your post I can see your attracted by synths hense a keyboard instrument should be your choice which will give you basic playing skills and later on writing/composition skills.
