I have heard that drum'n'bass tends to be in the key of G, something to do with getting the best bottom end, the low G being about 50 hz (?). Your suggestion sounds more like a Gearslutz Urban Legend (TM) however. |

"translates best" how? "fm radio" as a whole doesn't really have any particular audio qualities that would favor one key over another... not that I can think of at least. I have worked at several different fm stations, so I can tell you for sure that each individual fm station will set their air chain processors in a way that can greatly affect the eq'ing and dynamics processing of songs... i.e. essentially it's like taking a "mastering" preset and running every single song through the same settings. so there could be a slight, slight possibility that due to a station's particular eq curve certain keys could sound better on one particular station, but even that seems HIGHLY unlikely. Like all other "translation" issues in any other playback medium / venue, its really more the overall mix and mastering of a song that will determine how it translates. I can't think of any reason why a certain key would work better on fm as a whole.
