LOl...what instrument do you mean? A telecaster? Hammond organ? I'm guessing you mean the Thermin. Google theremin sales. There are a lot of kits available. and I think Moog sells one. Check out Dynasty Electric from Brooklyn. Jen rocks the Theremin in several vids |

Cool... Ive only ever seen the kind of theremin where you control the tone with your hand in the air using some sort of beam... I think the slide theremin on a board like that looks much more easily controllable... Cool instrument... I think Radiohead uses them on some songs.... First that comes to mind is "National Anthem" ....

Radiohead uses an updated version of the Ondes Martenot that controls the pitch with a ring attached to a string. It's manufactured by modular synth maker Analogue Systems. Much easier to use than a traditional theremin.

More info for ya.... Good Vibrations The instrument's most famous musical appearance is on the Beach Boys'"Good Vibrations." The 65-year-old Sear was a dealer of Moog-made theremins in the '60s when the California-based group bought the instrument that appears on that record. "The Beach Boys came into the store and tried to play the theremin and all they got were burps," says the Temple graduate who moved to New York decades ago. "They said to me, 'hey we're guitar players we don't know how to play this kind of stuff, can't you make something like a guitar for us.'" Sear gave Moog a call and relayed the group's request. Moog developed an attachment that would allow the group to change the theremin's pitch by pressing a finger to a metal strip. That feature turned out to be an important interim step between the theremin and synthesizer. |

Moog et al. sold a "ribbon controller". Theremin was apparently the original sound on "Good Vibrations". Theremin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Moog also sold a ribbon controller: YouTube - Minimoog & 1150 Ribbon Controller Bri |

There's a very good DVD documentary on Moog and he discusses this among other things. It's a very interesting watch, well worth a rental (as apposed to just stealing it on Youtube, if it's there.)

My dad had one of these; it was a feature on his monstrous Kimball organ. Relatively simple: Two metal contacts stayed separated by the fact that one of them was sprung, you push down to connect them, and as you slide your finger left or right, the pitch goes up or down. There was no control over dynamics the way you would have with a real Theremin, so you had to use the volume pedal for that. Our Kimball organ's device was precisely the sound of the Six Million Dollar Man when he jumped up or down. They had to use a Kimball for the sound effects. I remember being really excited when I learned that at age 10. |

OK, I get it. I just looked at Edward's other posts. I thought I remembered him. Every single post is a single sentence insult. Obviously he is a professional troll who needs to be banned.

The original recording sounds a bit too 'in control' to be a true Theremin. Very hard to come in bang in tune with one of those without a physical object to get your hand in the right place... and then he takes it up a tone! | |
