I am not saying my product is superior to the Dragon, but we are shooting for great sound, simplicity and elegance at an affordable rate. I would love to say don't buy that and buy Mohog Audio, but I would have to insist on purchasing whatever will work best for you with the features and sound that you are after.

Thanks guys!
Totally agreed. Whenever gear starts attempting to do too much, it starts doing everything poorly. One of the things that attracts me to the Dragon is the saturation/tape sim. I'm all about smoothing things before going in the box (my Fatso is great), so that's a feature that I would love to hear.

But overall, an 1176 is an 1176 is an 1176, and too many features are too many features are... you get the idea. There is a reason why the 1176 is such a cherished piece of gear. Simple and great sound. Keep doing your thing and don't water it down a bit. thumbsup

But anyway, this thing is definitely on my radar and I'll be trying one out whenever my wallet allows. I just picked up an Ensemble and a tape machine, so I have some waiting to do before I can get all slutty again.

Yeah, I would love to try the Dragon and the tape sim. I like you love to smooth stuff out before going into the box. That's why I found the Carnhill/Neve transformer so pleasing with the 1176. Nice, round, smooth top end. What Tape machine did you get if you don't mind me asking. I have been in the market for an Otari MTR-90 II or III or a MX-80 for sometime but am just waiting for the right deal to come around.

A little Tascam 38 8 track machine, 1/2". Nothing fancy or amazing sounding. I'm just trying to learn my way around fully analog recording (being a child of the digital music age).

There's actually a 14 page thread going on over here if you're interested. Lots of good conversation is being had about the fully analog realm from old timers and new timers alike: I'm finally doing it. I'm getting rid of my computer.

Ohh yeah! I have been to your thread. Great place by the way! I love how you have incorporated the whole house almost and all those heads what looks to be like a linen closet or something. Great creative use of space and color. Best of luck to you with everything!

Thanks very much! Believe it or not, those shelves were there when I moved in, and they just happened to perfectly fit most of my guitar head collection in the exact room I wanted them. Crazy coincidence. Hopefully your 1176 will soon grace my growing outboard collection. Perhaps I should start selling off some of those guitar heads.

Anyway, enough about me. Back on topic about your wonderful product.

Any who, I regret to inform everyone that I will no longer offer the USPS shipping for international orders. I feel much more comfortable with UPS to say the least and some countries post offices will not allow insuring for the full price. I did bring back the the combined shipping after getting it all figured out. I know the shipping is high, but it gets there in 2 days and even with the import fees, it is still cheaper then if I sold through dealer/distributors. Just wanted to let everyone know. Thanks!

Well,I love em. Truly.
First, they are rather quiet for 1176's. I rent 1176's on a not so regular basis, but the rentals are noisy to very noisy, and it's a relief not to hear that.
On overheads I love the Carnhill setting,it gives the sound a smooth and velvet-like character, even when really slamming the track to pieces. On kick and snare I preferred the Edcor, it sparkles more, and can become aggressive in a cool way, when spanked. Loverly!
I haven't had to much time to play with them,I post an update once I do. I will also post some pics, once I get the camera..

Highly recommended,certainly.thumbsup

cheers,
Pieter

hmm, well I can post them again...

Hello everyone,
Did I mention they track really well in estereo? Well they do! Easy to calibrate as well.
I slaughtered a di recording of a 70-something jazzbass last night, Mofet doing sweet things at about 4 to 8 dB's reduction, @8:1 ratio, Mr. Bassman started drooling! Me too,actually...

Anywho, my pics are back for all to see...

Cheers
Pieter

Yeah it's lame but understandable. Hopefully I can put some banners up in the future.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that my fatcow account is acting crazy. The contact form is not working and the inbox itself has been hit or miss. If you have emailed me through the contact form, and or emailed the address directly and did not get a response within 24 hours, I did not recieve your message. Fatcow is working on this issue and it should be resolved soon. Please use mohogaudio@gmail.com for the time being. Thanks!

Likewise - maybe you could sweep us all off our feet with a few thoughts on your "two new prodcuts coming in 2010". Even something as simple as "a preamp and an EQ - details forthcoming." A gearslut will take what they can get.

Let me get out of my broom....sorry, I did just say that. Anyways..... we will be releasing two preamp units. A four Channel unit designed after the 1073(no EQ, preamp only). And also an eight channel preamp design around the 1176 with a lot of my own tweaks. There will be cool features I think everyone will like and be user friendly and the price will be very reasonable as well. The 1073 style will be in the prototype phase in March and hopefully out at the end of April with the eight channel unit out shortly after that. I will post more details on the features when I know they can all be implimented in a 2RU case. Thanks!

Sounds great!

Don't be afraid to make them 3RU if it's easier/cheaper. Not a big deal.

Peak LEDs or VU meters would be my requests.
