Here's the answer. Once you have your studio set up, and you know where everything is going to be, throw away all your excess-length power and audio cables, and replace them with custom-made cables whose lengths are exactly what you need. Once you get rid of all the excess cable lengths in your studio, everything is so much more manageable. If after doing the above, you still want to "organize" the cables, I recommend flexible snakes. They're super cheap at Home Depot. (I think maybe five bucks for ten feet.)

Where to get custom cables? Power cables at monoprice.com are obscenely cheap and are of good quality. I seem to recall that 3-foot long cables were under two bucks. And their shipping costs are really low. For audio cables, I'd recommend redco.com. Their Mogami/Neutrik cabling is less than half what you'd pay for it in a store.

I agree to using tie-wraps (zip ties). Decide a path for your cables to run then dress them into that path and tie them up into bundles. Don't make the cables too long. Enough extra cable to pull the unit out the front of the rack while still hooked up is all that's needed.

i found this recently in a German "discounter" aka cheapo supermarket: a so called "Cable management" box with all kinds of clamps, tiers and whatnot. Pretty helpful as I am just in the middle of recabling my newbuilt racks, too...

sorry for the bad quality - cellphone and not the proper lighting installed yet...

bougt a few of those (one of each size) to try it out.. haven't used it yet.

I prefer custom length cables (especially power cables), not to have over 3ft of unused cables in you rack helps alot!

I also got a rackmountable power socket i put in the rear rails of my rack for everything to be plugged in.

Then zip tie the rest

Agreed. But it is good to mention that is not recommended to make to many power cables to run parallel/close to audio cables. interference might happen.
