Hi friends!

PSP Vinatge Warmer has just been released. I have to tell you that it sounds pretty decent on drums, guitars and overal compression.

Well, nothing like you folks testing it for yourselves. The price is pretty nice also.

Thanks for the tip!

I dl and installed with no problems (a rarity these days - the copy protection installation always seems to muck up my old authorizations), plus it was available for RTAS under System 8.xx (which is also a rarity)! Seems to use quite a bit of system resources, but no worse than the BF stuff.

So far I've tried it on vox, snr, and kick and it works really nicely. The comp, eq are pretty flexible and the distortion can really make a track jump out of the mix.

My only problem with it so far is unrelated to the sound though - the rotary dials for setting parameters. Instant carpal tunnel after using the thing for about 10 minutes!! Why don't people code these so the area around the dial is clickable (ie: press around 1:30 and the dial jumps to there)?? This should be so easy to do and would make it SOO MUCH EASIER TO USE.

I know if you're using a ProControl/MotorMix,etc you can use that to set parameters, but with a mouse these things are torture.

PSP people and any other software people out there -- please start doing something about this!!

At any rate I think I'm going to buy this sucker - sounds good, reasonably priced, and seems pretty flexible....

Hi,

This behavior of the knob in circullar mode was intentional. The most
important thing behind a relative (not clickable) circullar mode is that you
click somewhere the parameter immidiatelly jumps to the new value. It means
that you would be unable to slightly change the value in this mode. The
relative mode always allows you to start from the current value which is
very important in the plug-in like the PSP VintageWarmer where a slight
change may introduce very audiable impact on the sound.

Cool! Thanks for the reply Antoni.

Maybe I wasn't understanding the two modes (and hadn't even seen them when I made my first post), but let me clarify what I mean (or would like to see). I would love to be able to click in the area outside of the control to get a approximate value set, then to be able to click and drag on the control itself to fine tune. Basically there would be two circular areas defining the control.

Does that make sense? I think people would appreciate the ergonomics of something like this.

BTW- I've played with the plug some more (and actually read the manual now!) and it's really fun to use. The combination of it on individual tracks and then the HEDD sparingly across the mix was making me quite happy last night! Where's that credit card...

How about porting the PCM42 delay plug over to PT?

For some of us that is more beneficial than a analog simulator.

I used it with lightly warmed/distorted funky rhythm guitars and it is pretty cool.

Although two circullar mode you where talking about are possible to implement it is not easy to do and would require a lot of changes to all VintageWarmer's versions. We will consider such a mode for future versions.

Lexicon PSP 42 is in development. I hope it will be available soon.

I'll download a demo of the Warmer when I get home. Is it a fully functional demo, any clicks or white noise? I tried to find details about the restrictions of the demo but I may have overlooked it. Also, are there plans to release your other plugins in RTAS format?

It just shuts off every thirty seconds (for a couple seconds). Kinda helps you A/B anyway...

Just bought this plugin a week ago or so.....

Phew.....Im blown away.

the loveliest character i have ever heard in a plugin.

Can really smash the mix bus with very little damage ( well,at least its pleasing damage)

tried it on bass and vocals as well as drum bus
its very verstile in getting different tones on a bass , huge play factor.

Vox are nice to get a hint of tape distortion....VERY convincing.

Awesome for smashing the room mics.

Seriously though .....first plugin ever that i simply LOVE.
I actually cherish it like i would if i had some new outboard.
