DA Converter on a $1000 budget?

I just got my Mixdream and need 8 more channels of DA to hook it up from one of the ADATs of my Fireface. Is it possible to get better converters than the ones in the fireface for 1k? Any suggestions?

Try hunting for used Apogee or RME ADI-8's.
