buying a7's on black friday...

So at guitarcenter.com, you can use a promo code of BLACKFRIDAY to get 15% off any single item. I've been planning on getting the a7's for quite some time now, so I figured this would be the time to do it.

The title on Guitar Center's website when searching for a7's says "ADAM Audio A7 POWERED STUDIO MONITOR Blue Label" What exactly does this "blue label" mean? Is this the same as the original a7? Thoughts?

Thanks

If you read the fine print ADAM products are probably not included in the promotion. ADAM I heard is one of those companies that don't allow any discounts unless it is a demo item or something. As far as blue label... IDK maybe it is a demo pair...

Not entirely sure, but it could have to do with the color of the light that tells you the speaker is on. Mine are blue.

Yeah... my back still hurts from dragging "Voice of the Theatre"s around... at the time [early - mid 70's] they were about as good as you could get for a bar band... but damn they were heavy!!

Yep they were about as good as it got back then and my back hurts just thinking about lugging those around, as well as B3's and Leslies. I have a pair of A7 horns in storage still.

We lugged a pair of Altec Lansing Voice of the Theaters from club to club as well as an Ampeg bass amp and cabs, a couple of tube guitar amps and 4x12 cabs, a B3 and 2 Leslies, etc. Everything was very heavy back then in the early 70's!

Those A7's did not have grill cloth. We had the horns mounted in the cabinet and placed them on tables turned them upside down. We always carried at least 2 spare horn drivers and a spare corssover. As mentioned, they were about the best a touring regional club band had access to.

GC states the Adams can't be discounted.

Sam Ash has a 20% off coupon out. I know fullcompass.com will match competitor's coupons (at least they always have for me). They probably sell Adams.

Sorry, I missed this part of the question earlier.

"Blue Label" means they're "Pin 3 hot". The "Blue Label" version was a factory error that was sold to Banjo Mart and a couple other mass marketers because the odds were very high that their clientele wouldn't have any clue that the speakers were 180˚ out of polarity out of the box while the clientele and most of the "real" shops would have figured it out and bitched.

Hey, it's cheaper to send "wrong" product to places where the customers won't know its wrong than to recall the product and fix the problem. Personally I thought the "blue label" concept was fairly genius.

Peace.

So why is the blue label version the only one listed on GC's website?
