Pot it in some nice turf and see if it sprouts little RE16's around the stem

i have not seen the new ones, but i do know that EV has changed hands. last i spoke with the new company, they told me they were having everything done offshore, but to the original specs. this my account for the new color?

| well then, i see what the issue is. that mic looks exactly like mine, which i bough about a year ago, and is definitely steel... i guess i don't see that as green at all. i see that as a light grey, or i guess you could get away with calling it beige. a PL20 is clearly a dark grey, but i think that's pretty much out of the equation now. in any event, i've never seen an RE20 look other than what you have. don't sweat it, it's the real deal.

And so begins a brand NEW argument... ![]() ![]() I always thought a darker finish would make this mic a little less ugly. Maybe they're doing a makeover in stealth mode. |

I like the look of it like the green in that pic. I think it would look great in an olive color or maybe even that kind of flat, primer, stealth black rat rod color. I bet they would sell. I may end up buying one, one day and take it in and have it powder coated.

I like the green finish. Not trolling, btw. Say what you want about ol' Rush. He's a lot of things. A "laid back, cool person" probably isn't one of them. |

Well, I guess we can't really expect Mr. Limbaugh to join the Green (re20) Party, now can we? |

I just took delivery of one today, and it's olive green too. And definitely steel. I really like the look - hang it on the shockmount and it looks like it's going to shoot at me :-)

Hey all, I just received a green RE20 microphone from Sweetwater.com. I posted a clear photo on my blog... Green Electro-Voice RE20 Microphone? | Brian McNitt's Blog ...and linked to the post on both the Electro-Voice Facebook fan page, and the Sweetwater Facebook fan page (click on "Just Fans"). We'll see what they have to say... Brian |

I almost bought one last week but got the shure sm7b instead to try something different.

| Now that I look at the photo again, it dawns upon me that this is closer to the color of the first RE-20 I bought back around 1980. It seems that EV went through a few different paints in their history. I have an old EV 666 that is a VERY dark green color (almost like an "olive drab" Vietnam-era helicopter). Most of the early 635a's and RE-15's were kind of a matte silver color (as were a lot of RE-20s in the last few years). Some of them had an almost "champagne" tinge. When I sent an old RE-20 back to EV for refurbishment a couple of years ago, it came back with some sort of ugly "battleship gray" finish (which I actually thought looked kinda cheap). Maybe they've decided to go back to a more "vintage" look. Hmmmm. |

these are leftover special St Patrick's day RE-20's. They are used for recording the parades and are specially voiced to pick up the high overtones of bagpipes. The Christmas RE-20's are green and red and of course the 4th of July RE-20's are red, white and blue.
