why can't i load / save channel strip settings in Logic 8?!

when i click on the button at the top of the channel strip i don't seem to get a menu come up. nothing! however it does work on the main outs 1-2.

so now i can't save / load any settings (which makes life quite awkward!). any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

above inserts on each channel there is a box that is named 'Setting' (when it is not assigned)...

click and hold until the options appear...

'Save Channel Strip Setting As'

hope this helps!

I you are talking about plugs and such, you have to click on the insert button....You have to hold the mouse button down for a second or so...I had the same problem when I ran Cubase for years at first.. It takes a second. Hold the mouse button down and wait for it to show.

ah right.. didn't explain it properly (not THAT bad at computers!!).

what i mean is that when i click on the "SETTINGS" button, nothing happens, with or without any other alt / ctrl / etc key, or if i hold the mouse down. however it does work on the main outs 1-2.

all the actual insert plugs work just fine. its' just the plug in settings that i can't access.

that is odd! is this a consistent problem in all your projects?

id install the latest update of Logic 8 first and go from there!

browsed @ logicprohelp site... Make sure the Preset folder is still there: Macintosh HD >Library>Application Support>Logic>Channel Strip Settings>Output Check out for possible errors in that location.

Make sure you check both the main library and the user library.

MacHD/Library/application support/logic/channel strip settings
and
MacHD/Users/~name/Library/application support/logic/channel strip settings

I had this exact problem and found that most of the threads aren't nailing the issue
(at least as it was for me)

note: also verify that the alias / links are working
(if you use an alias / link to an alternate location for your logic settings)

In my case, the main library was fine but my user library's alias (although present) wasn't resolving due to a recent hard drive replacement.
Deleting and recreating a new alias file for channel strip settings fixed the problem immediately.
