NS-10s question

I have a pair of NS10s and I am wondering about them. My pair does not show bass at all. When the mix sounds good on the monitors, the bass guitar and kick drum almost blow out the speaker in cars. Is this just my pair, or do they all have the attribute?

The bass isn't particularly massive, but more than workable. Usually, mixes translate pretty well from NS10's. Even without treatment this seems a little OTT What amp are you using and have you got the EQ section engaged or something?

Also, are you just used to using a big bass system and just haven't adjusted to them yet? Auditioning lots of your favourite recordings on them is a good idea too. Maybe make a day or two of it.thumbsup

NS10's were not meant to be main monitors, watch the movement of the cones for low end, there's not much below 80 hz and almost nothing below 50hz.
From 100hz to 50hz they drop 10dB. Great little speakers though.

Tape sounds better. Period, no debate.

So stop worrying about the little things, there is no perfect system. But tape still sounds better.

And btw, good tape doesn't sound like tape - it just doesn't sound digital.

Normal until you get used to it. You kind of 'feel' the presence of bass on them, rather than actually get to hear it. And you can 'watch' it on the rims of the white cones as well.......they tell a lot.....if they crease when pumping you might have too much.....you want to see a nice and unhindered bounce of that cone, even loud......kind of like a VU needle.....speakers to get used to, but very cool for what they tell......still always like a second pair with actual bass and top.

This is not normal. True, there is a considerable amount of low frequency attenuation but not enough to blow out a properly tuned car stereo.

Double check cables and such, also, if they are out of phase, the low end will particularly be confusing.
