Open Labs is bringing new device! Soundslate

Everyone here knows I am a big advocate for the Open Labs stuff...I think they have another winner and it is in the $2k range:

from site:

Introducing Open Labs' SoundSlate™, the ultimate virtual instrument player and hardware DAW for your keyboard workstation or MIDI controller, contained in a sexy 1U rackmountable case.

SoundSlate™ redefines music production and performance by incorporating Open Labs' music operating environment including the critically acclaimed virtual instrument host Riff™, 7500+ of sounds and effects, a robust audio i/o, and a powerful computer core running Windows XP into a 1U-ultra compact case that packs a punch.

Open Labs - SoundSlate - $1,999

Big up Julia.

How does this compare to Receptor?

Also, any idea when they actually release it?

A little lost so far after reading info on the site.

1. It's like Receptor? (a VSTi host)

2. 8 analog outputs? If not, how do u get mulit outs? (Allows VSTi's coming out of this unit to go thru some analog processing before it hits the DAW)

3. VSTi's r very finicky. How stable is Open Labs Environment (within the installed windows xp)?

4. Latency issues?

5. Basically it's treated like a hardware synth? (ie: sequencing external w/ mpc4000). If I wanted to sequence w/ Logic or PT on another computer how is that done without latency?

6. Only windows xp? no Mac OS ever? why not windows 7 or will that be offered as an upgrade later?
