Thread Starter | Reusing Tape I'm wondering if anyone can tell me approx. how many times the same reel of tape can be reused before the sound begins to degrade. I'm sure there are differences in brands and and types of tape, I'm not trying to split hairs. Just some general info is what I'm looking for. Also, if there's typically a difference in the lifespan of different tape sizes (i.e. 1/4" vs. 2") let me know. Thanks! |

| Are you asking about running a master tape 10,000 times...or, as typical here in my area.... of running a given piece of tape to do "ingest recording" before dumping the tracks into ProPhools/etc? In that later situation, your tape will last many, many years. Bri |
