Need a good compressor/limiter/gate

I'm looking for a House (main) compressor/limiter/gate. Something good, but also not ridiculously expensive.

then also looking for some gate/compressor/limiter for vocals, and instruments.

I have a Presonus acp88 and im satisified with it, just need some more.

any good recommendations?

I strongly believe that to cover the wide range of applications you need two compressors, one Opto, one VCA.

the dbx 1066?

i have one of those. When it compresses, it starts to sound like crackle and pop. it just started doing that recently. i was thinking may be it's going bad. but if you recommend it, i might try to pick up another one.

i currently use it to limit the subs connected with the mains.

I have both the 166xl and the 1066, also a Drawmer mx30.

which one would be best for limiting the mains, and which ones for the subs.

currently the mx30 is on the mains.

I recently got a used 1066. I've been using it and after I'm done with it, it gets hot on one side. Is that normal? Does anyone else's do the same thing?
