Thread Starter | Is it worth upgrading from Ozone 3 to 4
Title says it all. I have Ozone 3 and wonder if it's worth the upgrade. What are the benefits? Thanks. |

I"d say yes if you use Ozone a lot. It seems to put less load on the cpu and it also sounds smoother. L. |

Thanks a lot. In fact, that was the biggest question I had, whether it was more or less cup intensive. I like 3 but it can bring a strong computer to it's knees.

Thinking about the cpu thing, I also upgraded PT to 8.01. Overall that seems to handle plug ins better and faster. So I'm not sure how much of the improvement is Ozone 4 and how much is the PT upgrade. L. |

Hmmmm....on the CPU useage part of that question......maybe I do something weird...but, when I am quasi/mastering "my own" material....I just bring up the mixed stereo track as a new project......then use Ozone and maybe another thing or two....but.....I've never even looked at the CPU usage while doing this, because I've never had any problem. I'm assuming you must be using Ozone on the mix or on the Mastertracks of the mix??? Is that why the concern. By the way...I'm using Ozone 3 as well.....and nearly upgraded, but....I didn't seem to care about most of the ugrades such as the side chain deal....I didn't care, the extra inteligent limiter.....I use the soft.....and the buttons on the front where you can dial in as much of the effect as you want......that's all I need is one more thing to figure out. ---------------------- DISCLAIMER: I am a song writer trying to make a good recording, not an engineer trying to make a good recording. |

just seems smoother - doesn't "crack" so much - know what I mean? I don't use it loads since I only do my own mastering on budget projects.....but for sending mixes out for approval it just seems to do less damage than any other limiter ITB. | |
