Thread Starter | 1176LN Rev F/G
Might be the wrong forum to place this question... anyways. I have two blackface Urei 1176LN, one has SN 6567, the other 7448. So I think I have a Rev F and Rev G, I may be wrong. It wouldn't be a good idea to use 'em as a stereo pair, would it? If I'd "downgrade" my G to F by putting the input trafo back in, would it be better then, or is it still a stupid idea?

From Barry Rudolph in MIX mag: "Rev F (March 15, 1973, onward, serial numbers 2611-7052) changes the output amplifier from the original Class-A design to a push-pull configuration (based on the 1109 preamp) that provides more output drive. Also, the metering circuit uses an op amp that simplifies meter calibration and final testing. Rev G (production dates unknown, serial numbers 7053-7651) replaces the input transformer with a differential amplifier. (Op amps lowered manufacturing costs and were very popular solutions for audio manufacturers at the time.)" 1176 REVISION HISTORY I wouldn't use them as a stereo pair unless they were adjusted to match. I'd call up UA and ask what's the easiest way: Universal Audio | Support They're cool guys and still deal with the old hardware all the time. Plus you can have them easily modded to be linkable |

Thanks! I'll get me informed about that. But I think I just leave 'em that way, I do not really need 'em as a stereo unit, espicially when it's a bigger issue to match 'em.
