Fathead with Pacifica?

Hi All,

I just bought a Fathead (with Lundahl) for recording elec guitars. I was wondering if anyone has used the FH with the Pacifica. The paperwork for the FH indicates a recommended load impedance of 1000 Ohms, but the Pacifica is rated at 600.

I also have a Great River ME-1NV (1200 Ohms), but want to reserve it for the SM57 because I love the GR on the 57 for guitars!

Obviously, my plan is to blend the FH with the 57.

Thanks!

The mic input impedence on the Pacifica is 1500 OHMS.

It will work well with any mic really, great pre.

Strange, the PDF owners manual for Pacifica states the following:

TECHNICAL DATA
Input Impedance: 600 Ohm @ 400Hz
Gain Range: 72 dB
Noise (EIN): -128 dB
Mic Phantom: Switchable 48 Volt Power Source
Mic Input Phase: Switchable 0 -180

Did you already try it? How is this AmeriChinas mic? I read a lot of good things about the FAT HEAD!

War,

googled the specs: here's the link i had...

www.adesignsaudio.com/pdfs/pacifica-manual.pdf

curious difference.. i'd have to look deeper into this, but is one manual PDF older than the other?

EDIT: check out Index of /pdfs : there are multiple Pacifica documents (and a review PDF) - but both PDF manuals from this directory state 600Ω.

I just talked to Peter Montessi. He said the impedance is 1500Ω. The documentation that states 600 is incorrect.

Thanks for the help!

I have not used the Pacifica with the FH, but I have used it with Ribbon mics from Coles, T-Bone, and royer with no problems at all.
