Thread Starter
Apogee Symphony

I use PT almost exclusively these days for mixing and have been considering the trade-up to HD via digidesign's new trade in policy. I came very close to pulling the trigger when I started to think about the alternatives.

If I were to purchase a (new or used) Rosetta 800 to create an Apogee Symphony system for tracking in Logic (which I also use quite regularly for writing) I could also use the Rosetta 800 for tracking in PT if I need those extra 8 channels (larger groups, big drums, salsa band etc) via my 002r.

However, to compete with the HD2 I would need Apogee 16x A/D and D/A converters which would put the cost of the symphony beyond the HD2 without the added processing power. The argument has been made to me that the aftermarket value of the Apogee gear + plus the "better" converters makes it the better purchase. I am leaning towards the symphony system - are there any others who have made this decision with similar factors?

Thanks!
