No glass was broken, I've taken the VU's off and taken out the glass, I will test it more when I'm back home in a week to make sure the needles work ok. Here's some more pics to show the situation with the left hand glass out and the right hand one corrected.
I still can't tell what the actual problem is with your meters. Can you describe the problem in more detail?

Yes sorry, I've been away. Right, I ran signal through it today, everything works ok (except one green bulb). The VU's work ok!! They now just don't have any glass in them, so not ideal from a dust point of view.

So I guess all I'd need is the 2 Black plastic outer frames with glass fitted. OR just re glue the glass in somehow. Thanks for the offer of help so far! Great thread!

bringing this thread back alive. I've got 2 questions... I own the mono gama, optograph, and dual vandergraph. I'm finding that the gama is extremely hot. should the gain at 1 bring the level down to mute, or does everyone elses gama just start at a decent level and get louder from there?

My second question is... has anyone ran a mix through 2 of the gamas to use their pick of the tranformers for flavor? Kinda like a makeshift nonsumming equinox? My understanding is that he equinox sums, then hits the output transformers you choose. And if this is possible, do I need something like the Avedis line padz to pad it down?

When you get tired of replacing those bulbs, you may be ready for LED's. I use either white or incandescent colored white for the bulb look. The colored/white ones come from:
LED Lights & Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS

Wire a 1N4001 or similar diode in series to block AC. Then add a 470 ohm or 1 k resistor to limit current and to adjust briteness. I sand the leds to defuse the light. You will never need to do this again.
