Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi!

I've been lurking for some time now and a friend convinced me to register. I'm sure I'll enjoy my stay here and I hope to pick a few brains as well as share some knowledge I may have. My strength is in guitar but I've also been running a home recording studio for a year now. I'll just keep it brief for now, I'm at work

So hey guys! I hope to chat with many of you

Hi Phrygian! I'm a Lydian guy myself but we'll all part of the master plan! Welcome. I've been around for a couple of years, at least, and I'm still a newbie.

I was a lydian myself. But when I stopped playing guitar and became an engineer, I became a mixolydian.

Joey
There's way too much to list so I'll abbreviate it some, listing some of the more important pieces.

For amps:
Mesa Dual Rectifier 3 chan
Marshall JCM800 2203
Peavey 5150 (block letter)
Soldano Hot Rod Plus (just sold it, miss it)
Marshall JCM2204 (just sold that too, miss it)
And then I have a bunch of combo amps like a 1970 Fender Champ, Fender Ultimate Chorus, etc

Cabs:
1963 Marshall with 30watt Greenbacks (original), basketweave covering and small logo *the holy grail of cabs*
Marshall 1960A
Peavey 5150 (1st year)
I sold the rest, I miss the whole wall of amps/cabs but it gets rediculous

Guitars:
Way too many to list in detail but I have a few important guits such as
1989 Gibson Les Paul Standard
1997 Gibson SG
8 Fender Strats including a Deluxe Strat Plus (Lace Sensors), 1993 Standard, 1962 reissue, California with tex/mex, etc
Early 70's Raven Tele Thinline
2 Fender Telecoustics
Ibanez 12 string
Jackson Dinky and Charvel Soloist
Washburn Nuno N2
and some others I use sparingly
oh and 2 Banjos, 1 Fender and 1 I can't remember

Bass:
Spector 4 string
Fender Jazz MIM 4 string
Fender Jazz 5 string active

Effects:
WAY too many to name. My fav pedals are my Korg DT-10 Tuner and Boss NS-2 Noise suppressor. (smart eh?) ...yes I just said "eh"
I have alot of Boss MIJ pedals, as well as a nice assortment of Dunlop pedals.
I run about 10 pedals live with my board powered by a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. I'll post pics soon.

Recording:
Otari MX5050 8 chan 1/2"
Ampex AG 440C 1/4"
Digidesign Digi 002
Digidesign Mbox (only to monitor at home, not a fan of the pre's)
(2) Soundcraft Spirit Folio 8 w/Lexicon
Master Room Micmix standing spring reverb (model?)
(2) BBE 362
Tech21 Sansamp PSA-1
Line 6 Pod (little use)
Behringer V-amp Pro (little use)
Alto tube mic preamp (I use it for clean tones on guitar, not mics)
Antares Vocal Producer (on it's way)
Some Behringer compressors and virtualizer that don't do too much, but did the trick in my little to no budget days
Peavey Addverb (fills a rack space, that's it)
Behringer GEQ3102 (actually a useful dual 31 band eq)
Behringer Truth's (they do the trick)
M-Audio BX-5 Monitors
M-Audio Studiophile Monitors

Mics:
Rode NTK Condensor
Apex 420 Condensor
(8) Shure SM57's
(2) Shure SM58's
(2) AT (model? ..like SM58's ..and I prefer them over the 58's for some apps)
Shure 52 Kick
(2) CAD gxl1200 Condensors
Other various mics that serve little use nowadays

So my recording setup is pretty low budget compared to alot of setups here, but I'll post some songs soon to show things are actually going good considering. My guitar gear blows away the studio gear, but that'll change soon. I'm just about due to buy a few Distressors, a Drawmer and other various outboard gear. I'll be selling the Behringer stuff soon. Any takers? I didn't think so lol

So yeah, that kind of sums up the gear. i know I missed some pieces but oh well. I'll eventually just post pics. Cheers!

I'm guessing the trenches are like using Pro Tools with 64 megs of ram while sitting in a Behringer defectives warehouse?
No I don't want to go there!!!

I'll get new pics soon.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, A GUITAR SLUT !!!!!!!

We're gonna have some fun now - I don't think there's EVER been a better time in history to be a GUITAR SLUT.

Since you're in ONT, do you know Kevin O'Connor - I've used 3 different amps and pres of his over the last few months!!!

Welcome to GS - I'm a relative newbie, myself!! I was getting sick of hearing about Neves.

Now guitar sluts can focus on the REAL issues, like why the f*&k pople use zoom pedals - just joking all you zoomies - I've never even used one.

Kevin's company is called London Power - he's in London, ONT. He's also written all the Ultimate Tone books and does all the international workshops on guitar tone.

A good friend of mine has had quite a few amps and pres built by Kevin over the last year or so. He does some custom variable gain stage modern/ vintage marshall mod units, and a wholel slew of stuff, all totally customizable and mostly hand made. As I siad, I've had 3 of his units. (No, I don't work for him).

Very interesting and super nice guy.

http://www.londonpower.com/

Be well.

Sudbury dudes I’ve worked with…
Andre Forget – awesome singer
Marc Savoie – great guitar player
Donnie Reid played fiddle on a few projects (what an ear!)
Gary DiSalle guitar on a few sessions – awesome guitar work
Bob Chalifoux (he’s now in Vancouver – man I miss his drumming!)
Sean Perras on drums for a few sessions
Didn’t record him but played a gig with Kevin Closs
Rob Strong on drums for a couple sessions
Dick VanRaadshoven (upright bass & cellos for a session)
Jim Matt (well, he’s not originally from Sudbury, but he’s there now)
Vic…. Vic… uh, some Vic guy, great piano player
Uuummmm… that’s all I can remember right now… there’s a few more “faces” but I can't put names to ‘em at the moment.

Cool I know some of the names, haven't met many of them though. I've been living in Sudbury for about 7 years. Actually Kevin Closs just did an opener for us last week...excellent performer. Bob Chalifoux is my friend's dad, I heard he's good. Sean Perras..I'm trying to think if that's my neighbors cousin. And for Vic, I wonder if you're talking about Vic Theriault?

Hey I checked out your site; impressive studio! My friend and I had the same reaction .."that's in New Liskeard??" lol
Did you by chance record High Holy Days? (aka Arcand Band)
