Nashville, here I come (for a weekend)!

O.K., I don't wanna turn this into the Travel Channel or anything, but I'm going to Nashville Saturday afternoon for a few days.

Any recommendations are appreciated -- if there happens to be a GS get-together in Nashville this Sunday or Monday night, even better (sorry, couldn't resist!).

Also, I wanna pick up that Russ Long (name?) Nashville recording DVD while I'm there. I need it -- I've overdosed on the California sound

But wait -- there's more! Anybody selling a high-end vocal mic or compressor (old blackface 1176, original well-maintained 47, 67, etc.or C800g + ps -- the usual suspects) needs to PM me as well. I usually don't do deals by mail. I need a Royer as well. Lemme know. I'm ready to buy, but not to overspend.

I was down there last Summer and caught the Time Jumpers at the Station Inn, I think they play every Monday or Tuesday night but I'd highly recommend catching them if you can. It was really amazing to see and hear nine highly talented musicians on stage and I didn't even have to put in ear plugs! I went with Dave Martin (his wife Carolyn is in the Jumpers) and was sitting between him and Bob Olhsson for the night...it was a truely amazing experience to be around such great people and great music.

Why don't you make an impromptu post and have a speedy get together in Nashville! Where ever you go, if there are gearslutz, you've got friends!

Totally!!! How could I forget?!? How have 'ya been? What have you been up to? You're done with school now right?

Yeah, that whole night was great...I still crack up when I think about Dave running through the pub to track down our waitress, all in an effort to get away from the rapidly approaching amateur hour!

yeah, man... i'm out of school now, and getting a bit of work here and there--enough that i haven't had to get the [dreaded] day job, so that's certainly a plus. i was out assisting at dave's place today, actually.

yeah, that was a funny night. as soon as the announcer (or whoever it was) said, "singer songwriter night", dave stood up waving the check & his credit card! hahaha.

what's been up in your world? (funny how we've completely hijacked this thread!)

I should have entitled this thread "Gonna be in Nashville for 3 days -- anything I've gotta see?"

No, seriously, thanks for hijacking the thread -- at least it kept the bump ratio up

I don't have any concrete plans yet. Is there anybody who wants me to drop by? Anyone? Anyone?

There's a lot of love in this room right now

I'm actually cracking up as I type this -- so don't think that this post is negative in the slightest. I can't wait to be back in the South for a minute.

greg, i'd offer to meet up with you, but i'm packing to go out of town right now (north, ironically)! check out music row (it's worth driving around once, and probably only once). if you want to hear crappy country, check out the tourist-trap bars on broadway and downtown in general.

eat at p.f. changs (if you like chinese food). eat at noshville (it's what heaven's deli would be, if heaven has a deli).

ps-don't pick up the hookers in printer's alley.

Well, the Gibson store at Opry Mills (or whatever that mall is) is cool...Les Paul baritone strung up with some heavy-ass strings and tuned to standard tuning...jeez, it sounded like I was plucking piano strings or something...

>might< be going to the Bluebird Cafe for open mic tonight.

Didn't get on the 'net yesterdayfor the big trip update -- sorry.

Nashville Used Music was O.K., too -- they're moving next door, so all their guitar pedals were packed away. Bummer.

Hey Gregg

just saw this thread. Might be too late, but if you see this give me a call (phone number on my website: michaelwagener dot com). I'll be at mastering tomorrow (Tuesday) and if you want you can join us and we have lunch together. Independent Mastering is just off Music Row in the building of Masterlink Studio.

i used to live with a guy who's the great great great grandson somethingorother of the guy the street's named after.

it's pronounced duh mon (rhymes with "fawn") bruhn (rhymes with "fun").

duhmawnbruhn--emphasis on "mawn".
