What do you know about the guy ? How did he become a sound engineer/producer ? What gear does he like to use (mixing, recording) ? Did he produce only metal/fusion albums ? etc. It's the topic to write everything interesting you know about the man and his job. |

I'm interested too. Terry has a lot of recording credits in the metal scene, the very first and unknown Dream Theater, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger and Louder than love, Pantera, Deftones,...

| Terry's racks
in 1994 he was working at Bad Animals in A when we were doing overdubs in B and I remember seeing at least two racks, each with several 10xx Neves

Terry Date is pretty much the reason I'm an engineer. My favorite Date recordings: Handsome (this record is unbelievable if you like melodic hard rock) - "S/T" Deftones - "White Pony" and "Around the Fur" From what I know of Date, he lives in Seattle and got his start working with local bands and working his way up; I found it interesting to discover that he's not a musician and plays no instruments. Favored gear (Some of this may have changed. I could also just be wrong, haha) : Audio Technica ATM25 (Kick drum) Shure SM57 (Snare Drum, Guitar Amps) Overheads - AKG C12 Toms - Sennheiser MD421 I also know that he's partial to Neve pres, 1176s, and some Zoom effects box that he takes with him to sessions... This is all that comes to mind at the moment; I'll post more if I think of more. |
