pro tools error#-5000 HELP!!!

I got a brand new mac pro the other day and i installed pt8 running on a mbox2 mini, every time i open up pt i get numerous messages error#-5000 something about authorization for plug ins, and it keeps poping up again and again until finally it says do i want to remove the plug ins....what can i do about this????

By the way

I installed this mbox2 mini on my pc using windows xp at first, then a few months later i got my mac pro, and i installed using the same serial #s registration codes, does this have anything to do with the error#-5000 that keeps popping up? Everytime i start pro tools it pops up like 30 times until it asks me if i want to remove the plug ins.....any solutions?????

What plugins have you got installed?

Try removing all of your plugins from your folder, then re-inserting them them one by one then you might be able to filter out the offending ones and then you can check compatibility or refer back to the manufacturer if you are experiencing authorization issues, (sorry not much help) but it might be worth doing!

Make sure you have the latest updates for all your software also,

and by any chance are they Waves plugins that are showing up as errors?

copy and paste all of your files in another folder then load pro tools again. If it loads start adding in plug ins until you find the one that is causing it.

Error 5000

Hi I also just got the new Imac after being a PC man all my life.
After having no prob's on the PC when I loaded pro tools onto the Mac with snow leopard I kept getting this mesage also. It seems to be a permissibility thing with the Mac.

If you go into disk utility and select your hard drive then click on repair permissions it should help fix it.

The only other thing I did was to go into applications/library/digidesign/plug ins and select info and down the bottom highlighted my name and unlocked it.

Have no idea but this fixed my problem. Previous to that I had downloaded the pre release Snow Leopard updater. Haven't had to use it yet.

Hope it helps

I just installed a friends mbox and i got the same error on a brand new imac. The consensus most places is to just uninstall pro tools and install again. Seemed to work for me. Good luck.

That's not the same thing at all. That's one very specific thing, it forces pt to play until it falls over. Won't help with this problem.

Error 5000

hello. a client of mine bought a brand new MACBOOK PRO and an MBOX 2 and we had the same problem: ERROR 5000 as we were completing the 1st install.

first step: i removed the plug-ins to a separate folder on the desktop and the error message went away. we were up and running fine, however with no plug-ins. i tried putting them back into the original pro tools plug-ins folder (10 at a time) and ERROR 5000 came back with every batch i tried.

second step: we un-installed pro tools and did a re-install. it worked; everything is fine, no error 5000, all plug-ins are working.

In a nutshell: UN-INSTALL AND RE-INSTALL PRO TOOLS Good Luck!

The ilok is required for both mac and PC versions, and I don't know why you would want to run PT on a windows machine anyway.

Beside the point.

I had this same problem, error (-5000), and all it took to fix it was to log in as administrator, open PT, quit PT, log back in as normal user. Problem solved. Just thought I would share. Obviously a permissions error.

Only PT versions M-powered and HD use an iLok.Not LE...if you're on a new Mac, you probably have Snow Leopard 10.6+. So you need to DL the 8.0.4 patch since you're probably incompatible at this point.

This is the best piece of advice. Almost everyone didnt give enough info about their system to help. 5000 is a permissions error and if a user is gettting it due to an ilok Mpowered system on a pc, I thought I would add that if you have an older system with usb ports that arent 2.0 that could be a simple solution as well. I had a client pulling his hair out because he had his Ilok plugged into an older usb port.
