Tascam DM24 replacement screen.

Does anyone know where i can still get one of those cheap $35 dollar ones they discuss on the Tascam forum?

I can't seem to find anyone that has them in stock.

Thanks.

I don't know where to get the screen, but I can attest to the ease of replacing it.

Which is why I wrote "Dunno if it will ever be back in stock" and gave an alternate link. You might be able to find another Data Vision distributor.

I still can't get a hold of a replacement screen

At this point i would take someone's old one with lines through it! As mine is completely dead!

Yea, this damn screens, I replaced recently on one of two DM24s the screen (I wasn't able to see anaything at this point) and as I powered them both on, there was the first line on the second one
I think there was a tutorial how to repair the screen on tascamforums.com, but it was very complicated (at least to complicated for me)

I fixed mine, wasn't an easy job but with a little patience it's quite doable. 100% fixed after being 80% unreadable. All you need is tools and space to open the dm24, sticker remover, gaffer tape, a strip of rubber (sliced mine off a mouse pad) and time.

Oh, and yes, I took the tascamforums.com description as the guideline.

last time I checked you couldn't that's why I decided to repair it myself. No way I was going to pay 200 for a screen that would break again anytime soon.

I thought the problem with those things was a crappy connection between the ribbon cable and the screen itself? Not that the screen actually becomes disfunctional....

Hey I'm just curious did you replace the screen or did you repair it with the rubber from the mouse mad. Didn't quite understand what you meant. 773-495-3182 Tightswole.

Hi. I fixed it with the strip of the mouse pad, used as pressure material. Normally the connection strip is glued to the screen. The fix is to remove the glue with anti sticker stuff and to press the connection strip to the screen, in my case with the rubbery material sliced of the mouse pad. The difficulty is to press the strip at the exact location it was glued to in order to get no stripes, horizontally or vertically. Difficult but doable

This Help me with the DM Screen Problem!!!!

Hey Guy's! I feel for you I've had the same problem with my DM-24. But I tried all the site and search high and low with no results. So I just said screw it and bought a VGA interface. I think it cost me $300.00 US...but am glad I did. I love the Dm-24 and have the screen on a 19" Monitor...and it's Freaking Great.
If your fed-up like I was you can check it out for your self.

Hey man I to have been looking into this for some time. When my screen started showing lines I tried everything as regards to repairs etc the only answer was to replace the screen at a cost of £150 . I have read just about everything I could find on the subject on the Tascam forum and the rest of the net but there really isn't any other choice but to buy a replacement from Tascam , the job is easy enough as long as you are carefull and you take your time....hope this helps

I was under the understanding that Tascam does not sell a replacement screen?

The price is a killer though ...I read somewhere that tascam bought all the available stock of screens they could get there hands on from the suppliers
because they were aware of the design flaw and wanted to cover they're asses and sell them to us at a premium .. The screens themselves should sell for £35 or so not £160 Tascam you take the piss

I just bought a used DM24, after much online research and dead ends of no sale to non distributers, I finally broke down and just called teac (tascam), they have them in stock, end price was $221.34 (steep), Don't know why the website says back order??????
