What the heck?!?!

i have a mac pro dual core w/ 10g of ram, 7300rpm hd, i run dp5, record @ 24/96.
i'm working on a song w/ 20 tracks. i'm running about 20 plugins (masterworks)
3 of which are reverbs. my computer freezes up occasionally on playback. i just put
in 8g of memory, bringing me up to 10. i thought that would be enough......
thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!!!!

what

Hopefully you are setting up AUX tracks to bus to. I can run all of that on a single core Imac G5 without AUX tracks, some programs are cpu hogs also...

yes, i have all the drum tracks bussed to an aux, and if i put some backing vocals on,
i'll do the same. i just don't understand why it should freeze up under relatively
light cpu load. i was wondering if it makes a difference what slot i put the the new
memory cards in. maybe i'm underestimating what it takes to run @ 96hz.
thanks for the reply, antoniosolo!

you can only use 4gb or ram for each app unless you're running snow leopard and dp5 is 64 bit

it almost acts like the ram is defective.
i'm not running snow leopard, but if i was
i could use more than 4 gigs when using dp?
what does that mean; dp5 is 64 bits?
that sounds important!! time to do some research....
thanks you guys, i now have a few clues!
