Stones a Bigger Bang .. was it done with

Just got the Stones a Bigger Bang .. was it recorded directly to Pro Tools or to tape , wonder if anyone knows .. the drums sound great .

what a great record ... Rough Justice is one of the best new songs sounds like they are just playing live ... nice to hear a record not so produced like this .

The DVD that comes with the delux version of the album shows them on laptops with Protools I believe. Can't quite make out the software but it looks like PT.

I would bet they were done on tape. The snare sounds really good and very different, like a real snare sounds before the excessive EQing and processing we have all become accustomed to.

The video also has some nice treats for gear heads. The vocal set up for Mick is what looks like a AKG C34 stereo mic 3" behind the pop shield. About 12 inches back are what appears to be a U47 either FET or short body. Next to this at the same distance is a SM7B.

What appears to be a U67 long body also gets used by Keith Richards on background vocals. You see the SM7B all over the place but these were videos of the initial rough song builds so this may all have changed later.

Looks like it was mixed on a big NEVE but the subgroups kind of look like an SSL, I'll leave this to someone who really knows.

Really love the album, essence of where things came from in the 60s.
